Like the NBA, and all other major sports, Major League Baseball was turned upside down by COVID-19. But tonight, for the first time since 1988, the World Series has been won by the Boys in Blue, the Los Angeles Dodgers. With their 3-1 win over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, they get their seventh World Series title--and the second major sports title for the City of Angels in just fifteen days.

I suppose it's a matter of civic sports pride (or "homerism", if you prefer to call it); but however one slices it, besides the pandemic, we've been hit (and continue to be hit) by brushfires. Whatever good news we can get, we'll take.
I only hope that the rest of the celebrations that we can have for both the Dodgers and the Lakers can be peaceful ones, however. We can do these things responsibly.

The Dodgers were aided by a very controversial and much discussed move by Kevin Cash, removing a dominant pitcher for a reliever who immediately gave up the lead. That being said, watching all the games, it was clear that the Dodgers were the better team...

Kevin Cash is an idiot for having removed Snell. And this is why we can't have nice things.... Big Rig Trailer and Stores Looted During Downtown LA Dodgers Fan Celebration I don't care that people are excited, it doesn't give them the excuse to stop a guy trying to deliver food and loot the truck, or do doughnuts in the streets, or set off fireworks when there are fires burning, the humidity is low and we have Santa Ana winds. These people are idiots. And I get furious at the local L.A. news stations that try to play it off like it is some kind of "harmless" letting off of steam. Only eight arrests? There were hundreds and hundreds of people doing illegal things, including setting off illegal fireworks all over. I have seen no news reports that in Tampa / St. Pete there was lawlessness after the Rays lost. Sorry, Erik, not trying to be a killjoy, but if people are going to behave this way then someone has to do something about it. They never do. No one stays in jail. There are no consequences.
