To be honest, I'm not a fan of these types of videos, but here is another one --

I also have yet to see a reaction video that impresses me. The most recent one I saw was a reaction to Ooh Baby Baby.
The reactionary shared that he knew nothing of Linda Ronstadt but was familiar with the Smokey version. He could find no fault with Linda but he said the song was low key and wondered if she ever let loose. What else could she do? Well, cheese, you will not know everything about Linda from listening to one song.
Most of these folks come across as musical morons. One was reacting to Adios and kept pausing the song to discuss the lyrics, which he misheard.
Besides, who hams it up like that when they listen to music!

Interesting comment about Linda not being as popular in the UK compared with her monstrous success in the US. It never really occurred to me but wondering which factors were involved pertaining to that issue. Any thoughts? In the UK Linda was always classified as Country & Western, its where you found her albums. That alone made it niche. She usually did not have a separate own-name section, only Dolly Parton did for female singers, within the C&W section, maybe Tammy Wynette & Crystal Gayle in large enough stores. Linda's albums were reviewed favourably in C&W magazines, but not at all, or disfavourably by the popular rags. British pop was insular, male-centric & female singers were either Motown, Dolly, & Abba until the 1980s when New Wave, New Romantic & Madonna started to raise awareness of female talent. So poor Linda got little exposure from play time or the media. Our C&W weekly radio 2 hour slot was on an evening easy listening channel.

Let's see if I can RISE to this Challenge!!!
I've never HEARD this song, heard of it or seen anything on it
I'll try to get this done in a couple weeekss....should be FUN!!!
I wish Somebody would do a reaction to Linda's "Someday My Prince Will Come." I was listening to it the other day.. My God, IMO that song, her singing is perfection.. perfect control, pitch and so effortlessly. I think this was right after The Nelson Riddle material and Pirates.. At that time it was Linda the naturally gifted singer with a lot of experience and training under her belt. And it shows.

I think “Sometime My Prince Will Come” was recorded a good while past Pirates. If I am not mistaken it is from the early 90’s, but looking for a short while I couldn’t find a release/recording date but if my memory serves me right (don’t bet on it) I think it’s from around 91’. Anyone know the date/year she recorded it?

This was the best one I have found. Unless you speak Spanish you have to go by her facial expressions and they are wonderful.

Maybe I'm just old but I don't get these reaction videos. I can almost understand that somehow a DJ hasn't heard Linda before but the mind-numbing "analysis"--is "Blue Bayou" about where she's from? Where she lives now? As if she wrote it. "Nostalgia." Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I'm going to sip some rye and watch the 1977 Atlanta show and try to forget that I ever saw this.

Sorry, I was confusing “Someday My Prince Will Come” with “A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes”, and I used to be so good at dates/releases when it came to Ronstadt. Getting old is so much fun!

"Like needles and pins..." Her reaction to that line was polar opposite to Alan Ludden's reaction of "what does that even mean?" Although in the context of the song I thought "needles and pins" made perfect sense-- apparently it hurt so bad it was like diabetic nerve pain or neuropathy.

"The Sweetest Gift" from Dolly's 1976 TV program must be the "reaction" choice of the month --

Do they make you feel old? Do me.
Watching the trio, do you notice the happy look shared between Emmylou & Linda when Dolly is singing?

I watched this. One man's "bloated mess" is another man's all-time favorite album (referring to The White Album of course).
Apparently he is unaware that at the time this lullaby album was recorded, Linda already had two adopted children. If I find some spare time, I might make that comment to his video.
(Wow the forum has a grammar check that is telling me to put a comma after the word "apparently" but I disagree. I think one is needed after the word "Wow" but it's not bugging me about that.)
I did listen to this lullaby album a couple of weeks ago and I like it a lot better now that I did 25 years ago.

Amazing its 25 years old!
A lot of reaction videos seem to be requests from Linda fans, rather than the reviewer/reactor's choice. However the requests seem too often the same songs. Linda's lullabies was a surprising choice.
What would you all request, or do your own of?

I do enjoy listening to millennials discover Linda for the first time... but IMO it's getting a little cliché and staged.. There are a few who I feel genuinely do like her and I have subscribed to their channels... Jamal or Jamel, he's used quite a few Linda songs even the rancheras .. and he seems like a very nice person... He does like a lot of the 70's music/classic rock artists. There's a few others too.. but to me it seems like a gimmick and to get boomers to subscribe to their channel. lol

There would be a comma after apparently and wow. owl.purdue.edu/owl/general_writing/punctuation/commas/index.html. I almost get sad when I see major mistakes, mostly in spelling. Comma mistakes are no biggie to me. This morning I had a question on ebay (I sell stuff at times that I have collected over the years) that said "will you except" instead of will you accept. I didn't say anything as I don't like to make people feel bad plus I don't know the person. eddiejinfl

Has anyone seen a reaction video that is not complimentary? eddiejinfl There is one of "Heartbeats Accelerating". I just watched my last "reaction" video. "Repetitive"--yes, but not the song--this woman saying over and over that it's repetitive. To call the song "stupid" is just...stupid. So is the comment that Linda sounds like she didn't even like the song. As if by that point in her career she'd sing anything that she didn't like (let alone one by her beloved McGarrigles). I was watching this thinking "why do I care what you (and your kid) think?" Answer: I don't.
