Thank you fabtastique. This performance is a bit rough but IMO it showed much promise for a future recording that I hoped someday might happen. Not to be.

This is a thread to showcase and spotlight some Ronstadt rarities.I put this playlist together many years ago on youtube. New fans may get a kick out of it. Old fans will have their memories jogged for the better. If you see anything you like I suggest downloading it as you will see youtube has a penchant to delete. Feel free to add new finds in the thread or discuss any from my playlist.LINDA RONSTADT RARITIES 177 videos 25,422 views Last updated on Jul 13, 2018

The casual Ronstadt fan may not be aware of most material here but it is well worth listening to. Her range and genre switching abilities are amazing all while being a really lovely person, a down home girl from Tucson Arizona. Often branded unfairly as a cover artist you will see her originality and trailblazing abilities in these selections. Never mind she was one of the sexiest women alive during the Boomer Generation. Linda Ronstadt is really one of a kind. Enjoy this collection.

"Walk Away Renée" Linda Ronstadt, Ann Savoy, The Four Tops
ronstadtfanaz 9 years ago I first heard it on the Linda Ronstadt Fans Forum where it was posted by Hot4Daria on July 12, 2006. It is still there under the thread title "Walk Away Renee - Remix." Thanks for turning it into a video. Asked if speeded up a bit he says: "Yes, with Antares Auto-Tune and Antares Throat added to help get the overall sound and pitch to fit better. As a rule, I hate the overuse of pitch correction in pop music, but it's a necessary evil in this case."

THROAT Evo from Antares is a plug-in tool that allows for processing a vocal through a meticulously crafted physical model of the human vocal tract. The software begins by neutralizing the effect of the original singer's vocal tract and then providing the ability to specify new characteristics of a modeled vocal tract.
Specifically, the software controls allow the user to modify the voice's glottal waveform, as well as globally stretch, shorten, widen or constrict the modeled vocal tract. For even more detailed control, the graphical Throat Shaping display allows for individually adjusting the position and width of 5 points in the vocal tract model - from the vocal chords, through the throat, mouth and out to the lips.
THROAT Evo's Breathiness controls let the user add variable frequency noise to the model, resulting in a range of vocal effects from a full rasp, to subtle breathiness, and on to a full whisper. Also possible is pitch shifting the voice up or down an octave to create a wide range of alternative vocal characters.
Functioning as an Audio Units, RTAS or VST plug-in for Mac OS X or Windows based audio software, the range of controls found within THROAT Evo also allow for the creation of vocal tract models well beyond the limits of physical human anatomy.

What about her duet with Andrew Gold on the old Andy Williams' hit "Can't Get Used to Losing You"? That is a real duet with Linda having a dual lead on it with Andrew.
I am just seeing this thread at the top of the Linda section again. I would imagine, and this is just a guess, that perhaps because "Border Town," "A Bandit And a Heartbreaker," "Falling Star" were meant for albums, but are on the Box Set Disc 4 Rarities set that WEA removes them for copyright reasons. A lot of things somehow get removed and I don't quite understand who polices this stuff.
As for "Sandman's Coming," "Gainesville," and "My Hero" these were originally released on the concept album "Faust." I saw a production of this at the La Jolla Playhouse in La Jolla, CA. In concert, Linda would sometimes sing these songs from Faust and try to briefly tell the story and she would describe Bonnie Raitt's character as a "good-time gal." And that would be when she would launch into "Feels Like Home," which Bonnie does on the "Faust" album. Bonnie has another song on the concept album called "Life Has Been Good To Me."
Linda has appeared on so many other albums that it gets a bit unwieldy to track them all down. I know over the years that I have purchased quite a number of albums on which Linda appears as a guest artist. We are lucky that Linda was so generous with contributing to other people's albums. Of course, there are also all of the duets she did with Aaron on his albums -- "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face," "Close Your Eyes," "Song of Bernadette," "The Very Thought of You."

Quote by rick:
And if, not even counting the times they appeared on one another's albums, we were to add up all the appearances she and Emmylou have made guest appearances on other peoples' albums, it would probably be in the hundreds (IMHO).

TV appearances - The Simpsons had two songs, The Plowman and a duet with Homer on the Simpsons CD. And her appearance on The Muppets (as Kermit's girlfriend) - Blue Bayou with frog accompaniments was memorable (as I remember).

All available on youtube I believe. Interestingly, John Boylan, Linda's long time friend, manager, producer, etc. also produced some of the Muppet music.

This is a good place for it too.
MORE TO COME I will add more years and if anyone has more to add to that year have at it. Personal reviews, set lists, your own photos from that year, clippings or scrapbook articles.... anything is appreciated. Ruben Blades & Linda Ronstadt in Robert Mugge’s THE RETURN OF RUBEN BLADES (Linda is mostly in parts 3 and 4 and looking cute around 10 minutes in) or watch at vimeo site/ click image In Robert Mugge's 1985 portrait of Ruben Blades, Ruben is seen attempting to carry his Latin music and Spanish lyrics into mainstream U.S. acceptance, with Linda Ronstadt offering to meet him halfway at a time when she was just starting to explore her own Mexican heritage. Although their respective efforts haven't yet achieved the widespread cultural makeover which each of them would have liked, they've at least pointed out the inevitability of North American synthesis yet to come. Beyond that, no one sings more sweetly than these two did together. Also part of the discussion is author Pete Hamill. Finished song:

I don't know why but I had to use my Windows 7 to open this movie. Same with some of the stuff from Cornish Pirate (above). Maybe it has to do with google chrome or my flash player or something I don't know much about.Collection Title: El Teatro Campesino collectionTitle: CorridosAlternate Title: Tales of passion and revolution
Date: 1987 Apr. 1 Location: Recorded at KQED studios, San Francisco, CA, on Apr. 1, 1987. hidvl.nyu.edu/video/000539671.html#
Run-time (hh:mm:ss): 00:58:38
Language: In English and Spanish.
Synopsis: Corridos: Tales of Passion and Revolution, nationally broadcast on PBS and the winner of the George Peabody for excellence in Television in 1987, was the final result of the El Teatro Campesino's stage production of the same name. The piece began as a five week workshop in ETC's San Juan Bautista playhouse in the summer of 1982, exploring the stories and narrative lyrics of Mexican popular ballads or corridos. The workshop production was an instant popular success with audiences and critics. ETC decided to stage a new production of Corridos at the Marines Memorial Theater in San Francisco, where it ran for three months to great reviews and eleven Bay Area Critics Awards. Other stagings followed in 1984. Corridos finally evolved into a full-fledged video production in 1987, after several drafts of the script that not only reworked the selection of ballads, but also condensed the material to fit into the confines of a one-hour special. The production presents two full-length corridos: Delgadina (a haunting parable of incest in a wealthy Mexican family), and Soldadera (based on the dispatches of American journalist John Reed, in which the compelling story of Elizabeta is framed by three songs of women during the 1910 Mexican Revolution). Highlights from other traditional corridos are connected by engaging narrative sequences: Yo soy El Corrido (the story of the corrido itself), Rosita Alvirez (a comedic parable of a defiant young woman who meets an early death), and El Lavaplatos (the story of an immigrant who dreams of becoming a movie star and ends up a dishwasher). Joining members of the original cast, the production included popular songstress Linda Ronstadt, singer/actor Daniel Valdez, San Francisco Ballet artist Evelyn Cisneros, and actor Clancy Brown.

I think Linda and him would have looked good together. I do not know if Blades is married so am not starting rumor or drama. They both have nice lips amongst other things. Love the video above where he is teaching her a song. eddiejinnj
