"Bandit And A Heartbreaker" was recorded in 1985 by George Massenburg at The Complex studios in West LA. It was meant for a new album that Peter Asher was producing with Linda. That project was abandoned at Linda's request.

Judee was prodigiously talented, but also quite troubled and died an early death in 1979.

Thanks for Sharing.....totally can hear how Linda would take and master that......very sad not to hear the entire project...why was it abandoned, I wonder....

The Cub Scout uniform thread got me thinking. What are your top unearthed LR treasures that you hope will turn up some day?
Here are mine in no particular order.
1. La Boheme. Video or sound recording. Does it exist? Heck, even a look at the Playbill would be great at this point.
2. Video of Linda performing in the Cub Scout uniform. Shocked it hasn't surfaced yet.
3. Video of Linda performing any of the Philip Glass works. I recall she did a live show with him of 1,000 Airplanes on the Roof in an airplane hangar.
4. Is "Try Me Again" about JD, Albert Brooks or someone else? I'm guessing she'll never tell.
5. The complete unedited filmed interview in her Malibu home and on the beach outside from 1976 that wound up in the documentary film Wonderland.

would love to see or even hear La Boheme ....
would also love a video of one of her Cry Like A Rainstorm tours - can't believe these were not professionally recorded as it was such a huge seller - even a bootleg??
Finally, a video of the tracks with The Seldom Scene off the Box Set

All of the above would be great of course. My 'Holy Grail' would be a video of Linda's legendary performance of 'Tumblin Dice' on stage with the Stones..

Right after I read Linda's book, I searched youtube to learn about the Starlings, because I found that part interesting. At the time I did find a youtube with Linda, Emmylou, and Seldom Scene performing live. But I can't find it today...
I've also searched extensively for La Boheme, always nothing.
Tumblin Dice with the Stones would also be great. It will probably sound awful, Jagger doing anything BUT trying to blend harmoniously with Linda...but it would definitely be interesting lol.
I was under the impression Linda gave that interview at her beach house--for the documentary Wonderland?

I'm more inclined to want to see pre-fame appearances around Tucson, family home videos and would love to see a documentary made of the Ronstadt family ancestry which is truly the story of the early American Southwest.

I want her version of "World I Never Made" that she evidently did as a one-off in concert.
That has to be a killer.
I would also love a video of the CLAR tour, which I saw. She was spectacular and her live duets with Neville were heavenly (even on those two hit songs I don't particularly care for).

I'd like to hear her version of "World I Never Made," although I did find a version of the song by another artist on youtube, and didn't think it was that special. It was like one of those songs you have great hopes for just off the title alone and then it turns out to be rather pedestrian and dull. And I happen to like many of the songs that were written by Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman, one of which wrote this song (but not both). Still, what I'd like to see on Linda is an album's worth of unreleased songs or an album's worth of alternate takes. Linda's performance of "Long, Long Time" on "The Johnny Cash Show" is one alternate take. I don't know whether her performance of the song on "The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour Show" or Bobby Darin's "Darin Invasion" special were alternate takes or one offs unique to those shows. I don't remember the GCGH having live performances but the music sounds like a backing track since no musicians were seen. Musicians were seen on the Darin special, including Darin initially and who disappeared as Linda became the focus. That may have been totally live but I just don't know 100% for sure.

How long ago was this "World I Never Made"? That wasn't the song she did with Bromberg in Philly when he came onstage was it? eddiejinnj

I've only heard a snippet of it in one of the radio interview promos (or something) but if Linda nailed that song, as I'm sure she did, it would be awesome. In the meantime, the late Johnny Adams's version will just kill you.

We were there with 2 friends and had good seats. They did nail the song as I remember. I've seen Bromberg with her once or twice and Phoebe showed up at the old Garden State Arts Center. Aaron joined her there for the Cry tour. The Neville Brothers were the opening act but of course Aaron had to join her separately. eddiejinnj

I have fond memories of it, as it was my first Linda concert. I still remember the lights being turned out as the opening chords of When Will I Be Loved rang out, and THAT VOICE singing 'I've Been Cheated, Been Mistreated'... good times...

I saw Linda on Long Island (not sure of the exact date and Jimmy Webb shared the bill and opened). Phoebe joined Linda for an encore and they sang A World I Never Made. It was killer - wish someone had recorded that.

There was a nice trickle of out takes, unreleased tracks and demos a few years ago - shame nothing else has popped up recently

There is a rehearsal DVD of La Boheme at the Library for Performing Arts in NY. At one point, Linda starts laughing because something is hanging off her cape and she says "Why do I keep doing that?" The tape is a 15-minute rehearsal of one scene (where Mimi loses her key after she faints) with Gary Morris and then with another actor (maybe David Carroll?). It was a treat to see this again after so many years and glad that it is part of the Joe Papp archives.

Rob, maybe she sang that song with Phoebe when I saw her at the now PNC Bank Arts Center (Garden State Arts Center) and not David Bromberg like Rich and I were surmising. I couldn't tell you the name of the song either sang with Linda. Rob, I believe she also played LI that year also. So maybe it was Phoebe and Linda who sang it. eddiejinnj

Belle, the second post on this thread has some active links thanks to Cornish Pirate: ronstadt.proboards.com/thread/1431/ronstadts-bluegrass-countryJohn Starling plays in this band and somewhere within it she tells the story of how the Trio began and also staying at Starlings home where they all had the flu. This is a very historical recording.

I hope I live long enough for a supercomputer with a music cleaning application takes that above concert and cleans up the sound. It is a true gem of a concert.

I was at that show also and it was fantastic! What a wonderful surprise to have Phoebe there and they both sounded great. That may have been the last time I saw Linda live in concert. Truly a magical evening, including the encore.

I would love it if Linda recorded "The Way You Look Tonight" at some point, and that the tape will show up somewhere, someday.

wow, where do you buy that? are they the original recordings? thanks eddiejinnj I put a link to the location where it was available at one time in the Neville Christmas thread. Not sure if it still is but you can contact them. The majority of the songs I have included in my duets playlist on youtube if they were available. Youtube changes so often, deletes and adds I suppose I should go through it again.
