Yes. I posted it when it was first released in one of the Trio threads. Then as usual it disappeared from youtube. Then it came back. So enjoy it while you can or download it.

Dying to see this.
But I'm curious as to how much of the "performance footage that will knock [our] socks off" will be new to anyone on this forum. I mean, we have certainly been thorough in our excavations!

You never know, because I think we can still be surprised.
Besides, I think it is important that those who have never had the chance to see her live get to do so through this film. People really need to know what it means to hold one's own onstage without pyros, nude dancers, and, in T-Swift's case, popping out from the bottom of the stage like a Jack-in-the-Box (and I don't mean the restaurant chain, folks [LOL].

There was new footage I had not seen before in The History of the Eagles. Maybe they were able to get much more.

As a long time fan my socks were definitely knocked off. I had actually seen all the film’s performance footage before BUT it was the creative editing that had a lot of wow factor. One great example is how they blended performance footage and studio footage for one song, Lose Again, so it went back and forth. What’s New for fans are a lot of outtake photos... like from the shoot where Linda is in a swimming pool wearing a blouse and cut offs. They do use the Get Closer video a lot because she actually has choreography in that one. You forget how rare it was that she actually danced. Only Get Closer, a slow dance in the What’s New video and sine dancing in the Canciobes show come to mind. They probably had a difficult time with video quality. The big San Diego stadium concert footage from 1975 would have been used more to show her heyday popularity were it not for crappy quality of it. I loved the movie. New stuff of her now will probably thrill the die hard fans the most. Bring Kleenex for the part where Emmy starts to cry. But you will leave feeling uplifted.

UPDATE:
The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) ratings board has affixed a PG-13 rating to the film, likely because of some brief off-color language and drug-related material.

I'm not sure if this is relevant or not, but one of the categories at the Grammys is for Best Music Film. We could be looking at THE SOUND OF MY VOICE getting a nomination in this field, if not an outright win, early next year.

Wow. I came to that same conclusion several years ago. When you can do that the only thing you need are the bare necessities to maintain physical health. Just reach into your mind, memory for whatever you need or wish to do and voilà. Great interview.

Linda!!! ya gottah be kidding me!!! all of us!! hahah
gottah luv that humility...she means it!! great interview
BUT
she says Joni and Bonnie are better singers???!! Aaagghh...of course they are great, no matter what they "do" in the context of all their music
BUT as SINGERS,,i.e. stand alone instrument NO WAY!!!
Linda has a FAT middle voice,,,,,which is extremely extremely rare...ALONG with that RAZOR ear.....that's how she could jump slide and shade/color everything so spectacularly...Joni n Bonnie...not so much but I still luv em!!!!

Movie posters for The Sound of My Voice are for sale on ebay. But if you are interested, be aware that they are not original movie posters.. they are copies. Apparently someone saw a way to make some money. On the bright side, they will customize and make you a poster in whatever your choice of size.

Great clip. I've heard Rescue Me on her third album but this is the first time I've seen live footage. Every song she did was better than the original.

Parade interview: "I’ll just go with their assessment and let the Kennedy Center assess that overall the work was sufficient." "Sufficient"! [facepalm] Sometimes her level of self-criticism makes me crazy.

Quote by RobGNYC:
It does occasionally do the same to me, but then again she has never been a particularly great judge of her own stuff. It's one thing to be modest and not self-aggrandizing, but this is Linda engaging in exactly the opposite: extreme self-deprecation to the point of outright irritation. In the end, I don't think there's anything we can do about it.

When a perfectionist sets such high standards that is impossible for them to attain her comments shouldn't surprise anyone. The positive thing for her fans is that she set such high goals, gave it her best which has been more than enough for the rest of us. It far exceeds anything we could hope for .... as is. The rest is just something she will have to deal with.

From what I've read, the closest she's ever come to complimenting herself (except for the Playboy interview, where she said that "Sorrow Live Here" in Tokyo was "perfect") was regarding "I Can't Let Go" on the "Mad Love" tour. Which ties in with her comments about learning to really sing for the first time around 1980--I know, facepalm again, but this is Linda we're talking about. "I could really sing that song." www.goldminemag.com/articles/rock-hall-bound-ronstadt-reflects-legacy-life-beyond-musicGM: “I Can’t Let Go” must have been a song you loved growing up? LR: Definitely. I was probably 19 when The Hollies had that record out. I loved that song, and I loved singing it, because it was such a big reach. Again, I think I sang it better onstage than my version on “Mad Love.” That’s a really hard vocal; it’s so high. That song is very hard to sing. You’ve got to have a lot of energy in a certain part of your voice, and there’s a lot of muscle. It’s a muscle song, and I grew those muscles after I was out on the road for 10 nights. After we’d been on the road for 10 days, I could really sing that song.

The closest I ever heard to Linda complimenting herself was a few years ago at the 92nd Street Y in New York, where she referred to herself as a quote pretty good singer unquote..
