1969 Linda "Break My Mind" I am trying to find Linda's interview where she is asked what a Stone Poney is, & says she might get into trouble with the network if she did.

Got my "The Stone Poneys" mono original LP today. Its liner notes by Jerry Hopkins. 5th paragraph.
"The first Poney is Linda Ronstadt, described by a friend as 'Peter Pan still looking for Shadow'. She is from Tucson, Arizona, where she grew long black hair and big brown eyes".
Linda is the last & 8th of the musicians listed.
"Linda Maria Ronstadt - finger cymbals, pain and suffering"
The album is in Capitol's "Folk World" label, catalogue # T 2666.

Interesting factoid on Mike Curb who produced "So Fine" - He is the former Acting Governor and Lieutenant Governor of California under Jerry Brown, a Grammy award-winning record producer, a Billboard record producer of the year and a BMI multi award-winning songwriter.

I love her version of "Rescue Me" from her 1972 self-titled album.

Praguefrank’s Country Music Discography for Linda Ronstadtcountrydiscoghraphy2.blogspot.com/2014/03/linda-ronstadt.htmlPlease note that there is detailed information for the Stone Poneys and most early Linda Ronstadt Capitol Records sessions. However, the later Asylum sessions just seem the list the album tracks. There are known gaps such as: - Not all tracks recorded at the Troubadour sessions in July 1971 are listed.
- Similarly The 1976 [live] Tennessee State Penitentiary, Nashville, TN -was recorded on 12 April 1974 - The TV special was broadcast in 1976.
- Ditto the 24 August 1980 [live] Los Angeles, CA (this was the broadcast date - not the recording date which is still in dispute)
- The Get Closer sessions - 10 and 15 August 1982 Record One, Hollywood, CA include My Blue Tears which is from the original Trio sessions in 1978. However, there are no listings for the known alternate versions and outtakes
- Also, there is no mention of Ultrasonic Studios session at Ultrasonic Studios, Washington Ave, New Orleans, USA; April 7, 1990 which includes early recordings of 6 tracks (some not released)
From the Praguefrank’s Country Music Discography for Emmylou Harris
Ultimately there must be others we do not known about.

I always think of The Mike Curb Congregation singing "Burning Bridges" for the Clint Eastwood film "Kelly's Heroes"

Linda only came to the UK once ever, in 1976, so we poor British fans have to buy what we hope are not forgeries. AFA "So Fine" single, that's an investment! (It also plays very well for 55 year old vinyl).

I would not have guessed Muppets & the PoP movie were filmed in the UK.

This is great. Were they even calling themselves the Stone Poneys yet?

You guys crack me up! I have a bunch of autographs from over the years from my many personal encounters with La Ronstadt. Even so, I thought I was a rabid fan, but you are another level altogether... I never got the chance to meet the lady and ask her for her autograph. So, when you approached Linda with a request for an autograph, was she accomodating or irritated? I read of Linda being out for an evening witha date, at a restaurant and being pestered by fans for her autograph. I could understand her annoyance. But, I don't know about how Linda felt about signing autographs at concerts or back stage for fans who were lucky enough to meet her back stage. Or if they met her on the street. I can understand the nervousness she had meeting fans, especially after John Lennon had been killed. And then actress Rebecca Shaeffer a little while later. Course, I would rather have gotten to know her as a friend than as a fan seeking an autograph. I played guitar and wrote songs, so she might have been interested if we could have met. Many of my friends have been musicians so that was who I basically hung out with.

Pop, you are very lucky to have several in person autographs. I have one signed in front of me but a number of her autographs just not in my presence. I have the Boss to thank for getting my "So Fine" 45 very reasonably. He has been so kind to me over the many years on here. eddiejinnj

From what we have discussed, Linda seems very gracious with autographs if they are asked for in the right situation say a meet and greet, concert etc. At dinner, it would be a little disturbing for me also. eddiejinnj

This is great. Were they even calling themselves the Stone Poneys yet? Good question, if anyone here knows? It could have been 1964. Wikipedia says, "Making the band. in December 1964, after dropping out of Tucson's Catalina High School, and completing a semester at the University Of Arizona, Linda Ronstadt decided to move to the Los Angeles area to join Bobby Kimmel and form a band.[2] Ronstadt described Kimmel's vision of the band: "It was going to be five people. We had an electric autoharp and a girl singer, and we thought we were unique in the world. And it turned out the Jefferson Airplane and the Lovin' Spoonful had beaten us."[2] The group trimmed down to a trio that called themselves the Stone Poneys. Their (misspelled) name came from Delta Blues singer Charley Patton's 1929 song "The Stone Pony Blues" (also known as "Pony Blues").[3]"
