Description In the 1960s the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach was host to many famous musicians and rock groups. While living in Huntington Beach and studying art at Long Beach State, my favorite show was Linda Ronstadt. The Golden Bear opened in 1929 and was demolished in 1986. I have rendered this watercolor in sepia tones to preserve the memory. The original has been sold.

Huntington Beach was the Beach we'd go to, that and Seal Beach.. Newport and Laguna but mostly HB, since it was closest... of course, then I was too young to go to The Golden Bear. I always looked in the O.C. Register for "her," name, hoping she'd make an appearance there and my mom could at least drive and could hear her singing from Huntington Bch. They tore down Huntington Beach, Main Street where the G.B. stood and rebuild.. they should have kept it.. ugh
