they were maroon, a nice somewhat deep blue and green which is my favorite color. The green could have been toned down to a more elegant shade I do agree with that. just the scrapbook design is cool. eddiejinnj

The green could have been toned down to a more elegant shade I do agree with that. just the scrapbook design is cool. eddiejinnj A softer light green would've worked for the repackaging, although to some degree I think the scrapbook idea was a cheap idea, designed to save money. Compilation albums, usually referred to as greatest hits or best ofs or gold are reissues wherein the assumption is that an artist has come to their end as a hitmaker, and the idea is to repackage the hits as a new album and collect a little more money. If an artist is still producing hits, as was the case with Linda, future volumes could not be ruled out. But, the artwork usually takes a hit on a 'greatest hits' type album. For Linda, I think she, being as big of a hitmaker as she was, deserved a greatest hits album that was an extremely classy work of art. As to the scrapbook idea, it should've been packaged with additional photos featuring a photo of Linda if possible from the year in which those songs were a hit, a lyric sheet, a high gloss inner sleeve with more photos of Linda and photos of her band members. Maybe even a little booklet to go with the album. And a different photo of Linda on each label side. The album cover size of Linda inside the gatefold I think would've made a perfect photo for one of the label sides. In short, if it was going to take the scrapbook approach, it should've resembled a scrapbook of memories. It was kind of sparse and I don't think it would've hurt to have given it a little more detail.

My personal favorite is The Mad Love album cover.. Linda is shown in a phone booth talking on a pay phone." and the conversation appears to be quite intense.

The hairstyle she has on the Trio album cover reminds me of a mentally slow person. No offense to anyone, I love Linda. She should have worn this hairstyle on that cover: www.google.com/search?q=ronstadt,+parton,+harris,&espv=2&biw=455&bih=214&tbm=isch&source=lnms&sa=X&ved=0CAkQ_AUoBGoVChMI9POIzKvYxgIVR48NCh38nwAf&dpr=3#imgrc=zg1MB6fvdnVSkM%3A Or this one: www.google.com/search?q=ronstadt,+parton,+harris,&espv=2&biw=455&bih=214&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0CAkQ_AUoBGoVChMI_b7dyqvYxgIVQpUNCh1vkQCd&dpr=3#imgrc=gWplRgw4OhLTBM%3A

think the pic of gh vol 2 above is gorgeous. imo and life is perception, it is an impressive looking gh album. i like the font. the cover had texture so it was not cheap paper. you open it up like a book. the organization of the songs inside could almost simulate areas where pictures would be. I think they could have included the words to each song. the inner sleeve was slick paper with photos. Overall, very well done. eddiejinnj

Mr. Kaplansky - A mentally slow person? Do people who have a mental disability have a specific 'look' about them? Or hairstyle?
A lot of people seem to be praising the 'Back In The USA' album cover and although I don't dislike it I also can't see the big attraction to it either. I've read that a lot of straight men seem to like that cover and the 'Hasten Down The Wind' cover.

That should not be a description of anybody's hair and is disturbing. People on the internet need to realize what they put out there is technically able to be found forever. There is freedom of speech but why such speech that is more hurtful to many people than as an effective description of a hairstyle. I chose not to moderate the post. what do other administrators think? eddiejinnj

I thought it was a hurtful description . It didn't matter if it was Linda or not. I put my post to draw attention to it not to condone it. I haven't been on this blog in a while and was very surprised to read that. My Mom used to say "think before you speak". Let's open that up to lets think before we type.

I apologize if I offended anyone. What do you guys think of the comments in the war room section, specifically about Donald Trump? The War Room is specifically for non-Linda subjects, especially political issues. As Eddie has always politely told me, Linda's section is for all things Linda. And I now try my best to keep to his request. If you disagree with what's being said about DT, take it to the War Room. That's where it belongs. We're all Linda fans and she is who we should be discussing here.

imo, slide's was perfect response. if Linda has made certain comments re: this subject then I believe that to be appropriate to this room. to discuss her opinion and document it here. this is one of the best archives to get Ronstadt history imo. if not then such a topic, slide is right, should go to the war room. graphic metaphor, erik. I guess you couldn't resist, lol!!!! saying that does not constitute my opinion of the subject matter of whom I am no expert on. just busting chops, buddy!!!! eddiejinnj

While I never looked at it in quite the way Mr. Kaplansky did, I've always disliked that Louise Brooks bob Linda sported on the Trio cover.
For my money, Simple Dreams is Linda's best cover. You really get a sense of Linda Ronstadt, Queen of Rock, touring goddess, from that evocative photo. One of the best album covers of all time. Kosh pulled out all the stops on this one.
On the other hand, Kosh evidently pulled the cover of Feels Like Home out of his Photoshop nether-region. The pits.

That hairstyle of Linda's on the cover has never bothered me really, but the backdrop does. It's kind of false advertising to have that Monument Valley backdrop and the three of them in Western finery when there's really nothing on the album itself that suggests any of that.

Really, the back cover, of them in the long, white dresses, better represents the style of music that's on the album: Smoky Mountain women posing for their first big gig.

I thought that Linda on the front cover for Trio really had a 1920ish-1930ish look to her, in terms of hair styling and dress, but hadn't thought about the backdrop. I did think the music was more countryish than western. But, was that more Dolly's and Emmylou's influence than Linda's? And wasn't Emmy's producer the one in charge of producing the album? If Linda wanted more of a western influence on the album, it would've made more sense to me to have used John Boylan and/or J.D. Souther or maybe whoever was producing Michael Murphy's western-themed albums.

Had the Trio done a version of "Cattle Call" all would be forgiven. (Really, that would have been stellar.)

I love the Trio, look - she still very much has that hairstyle as recently as the Obama meeting.
The backdrop is over processed and tweaked, it doesn't really look like that but I guess that its supposed to be "old-timey"
Overall though I love all the promo and packaging for Trio - very stylish!

Favorites:
1. Hasten down the Wind. It was my first Linda album, back in 1976, right after a breakup. It is my favorite album by anyone, ever.
2. Simple Dreams. It's probably a better cover than HDTW, but the album only has *almost* the same emotional impact. Which is to say it's my second favorite album of all time.
3. Get Closer. The polka dot pattern I found instantly engrossing. I found myself staring at it constantly when the album was new, and every time I put it on to play it again, I invariably stare at the cover and sleeve one more time. Great design.
I don't have a least favorite. I guess I don't think in those terms. However, the CD-only covers don't stick in my memory the way the ones I originally bought on LP do.

well, it is supposed to be a children's lullaby album. I do love Good Night(brilliant), the title song, we will rock you, devoted to you. I don't listen to it often though myself. I think I have more than one copy but the one I know where I can easily access is in florida and am here on and off. so that may be why I don't listen to it as often as the others. I have hummin' here too |(my partner LOVES that album maybe as much as me, lol). eddiejinfl

Favorite cover "Silk Purse" Ok I'm a sucker for pigs, I like the "Li'l Abner" theme and it reveals an anti-glam side of Linda that I love. My favorite back is "What's New" this photo shows how stunningly beautiful Linda is. Gotta go with "Dedicated" as least favorite. I do, however agree with Eddie (snuck a post in while I was trying to type) "Dedicated", taken for what it is, is a good album it's just not for everyone or every mood (I personally like "Devoted to you"

Quote by Dianna re. Dedicated To The One I Love[/b]:
It's an album I have to say myself is a very problematic one for me, save for hers and Aaron Neville's take on "Brahms Lullaby" (and "Winter Light", though that was a repeat from her 1993 album of the same name). I always felt that "We Will Rock You" being done as a lullaby (regardless of what Brian May told her) was a fairly lame and indeed insulting attempt at being cute.
