Do you think if we pass the hat and put together a collection (it is a church after all), they'll make an audio copy available to one of the audiophile/computer-savvy people on the Forum?

It appears that all of their older forum discussions are available on their website and are free. Not sure how long it will take them to get Linda's archived but it will be just a matter of time.

i know i don't live under a rock. the 12th grammy thing in 2011. that has to be untrue. i have not heard anything about it and am sure it would have come up here. i did not hear if webb's album got any grammy nods no less a win with linda. that is her 2010 release per se. any thoughts? eddiejinnj

The 12th Grammy win, if one wants to count it as such, was a lifetime achievement award from the Latin music branch of NARAS (National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences). I really wish the entire organization would recognize her, to be brutally honest.

I just remembered based on Rick's comment that Vince Guaraldi (composer and pianist for Peanuts TV shows - and noted Jazz Musician - e.g., "Jazz Impressions of Black Orpheus") composed Episcopalian Eucharist Service Music that was performed and recorded at this location in 1965 (long BEFORE the many liberal Church undertakings in the 70s). See www.amazon.com/Grace-Cathedral-Concert-Vince-Guaraldi/dp/B000000XEQ. I actually bought it, have to listen to it again.

erik, it really still floors me that this was never discussed on here if i recall right and also that i nver heard of it in the media as i do google searches of linda's name on a periodic basis and that has never come up. so she actually was presented with a Grammy award statue? if so this would be her 12th Grammy counting 11 as "in harmony". this to me is great news, though , erik you are right that she deserves such recognition from the original part of the organization (the Latin Grammys coming a number of years after the Grammys started). eddiejinnj

I think it must have been discussed at least in the last days of the previous incarnation of the message forum. As an aside, she got this lifetime achievement award when the Latin Grammys were handed out in Las Vegas, the first time in seven and a half years she had set foot in that town (and don't you want to know why? [LOL]).
But certainly very little of the mainstream media even bothered to make note of Linda getting that lifetime achievement award because she had long ago ceased to be a newsworthy name. in their eyes anyway. If it had been J-Lo, how much does anyone want to bet they'd have been all over this?

thanks for the info erik. duh, i have seen that pic and i must have thought it was another latin music assn award or something. i think i was down in fl when this happened as i am now and just didn't focus on it. i would notr necessarily say that linda is not a newsworthy person. she has been on cnn a couple times recently and there was much media re her and shakira re: the arizona thing etc. i do agree that if j-lo especially at her younger age got a lifetime achievement award it would be played up more by the television magazine shows etc. eddiejinnj

The immigration rights cause aside, to the bulk of the mainstream media, Linda just isn't someone they care about much anymore, or at least they don't care enough not to mock her about her weight, her looks, and such. The lack of mainstream coverage for her lifetime award from the Latin Grammy branch is one such example of this. And Linda is not starving for publicity, the way a J-Lo or C-Ag (my acronym for Christina Aguilera) seem to do.

Who or what in the mainstream media is knocking her for her looks or weight? She looks adorable for her age. Better now than even 5 or 10 years ago. So many of her contemporaries really look awful with all that obvious plastic surgery (not to name names).

I distinctly remember how much hay was made about her weight and her looks in the months following what happened in Vegas, and how that subject keeps popping up intermittently on blogs and such. It just goes to show how ultra-shallow the mainstream media is (IMHO).

Oh ok. That was mostly right wing-nuts and their simple minded media who are angry at all Liberals and she just happened to be the main flavor of that season. She handled it all very well. For the most part she compares well to her peers and in general for all the good things she is doing nowadays.
The problem with being a sex kitten when you are younger is you are bound to grow older like the rest of us non-sex-kittens (and tomcats) and if you are out of the media long enough people are shocked because of the last physical memory they had of you.
When I am in my LeoBuscaglia mood even Conservatives are beautiful...ha... (fortunately I am immediately snapped back into reality).
