This expert says "Long Long Time" is "old as shit" and, well, it's too long and she needed to change tempo earlier, etc. etc. --

Somebody please tell this so-called "expert" that the song is a ballad, and it is a ballad for a reason!

Hey, imo, you got to take in all the reactions even the ones that we may not agree with. I think he was digging it but it seems he may have been looking for a power type ballad where it builds to a different tempo. Not everybody likes all slow ballads. He also mentioned his attention span effected it. He acknowledged she hit the notes. eddiejinfl

I'm old and even I don't remember when LLT originally came out on the radio.. I was too young.. I'm happy these young reaction people are listening to Linda and acknowledging her..

Sometimes a ballad can only be a ballad. Where would we apply the juice in I Never Will Marry?
There was subtle building of intensity in each verse of Long Long Time and the mood is perfect, in my inestimable opinion.

I was too young at 7 to remember LLT when it was released myself. There are ballads that are power ballads and there are ones very subdued. eddiejinfl

Quote by rick:
Linda, in all good honesty, probably owes some of her career to not only KHJ but also to KRLA, both of which were the top radio stations. AM or FM. here in Los Angeles during the late 1960's and 1970's. It was KHJ (Boss Radio) that helped drive "Different Drum" to national prominence in the fall of 1967; and both KHJ and KRLA really gave "Long Long Time" a boost, both locally and, eventually, nationally during the summer and fall of 1970. Combined with her many nightclub concerts (The Troubadour, etc.), and TV appearances (Dick Cavett; Glen Campbell, etc.), those boosts from our top two radio outlets really brought Linda to prominence, even though it would still be another four years before she became a household name.
