I am thinking Warner (Elektra Atlantic) Music Group owns the masters but many were remastered by Mobile Fidelity and they did such a great job that I am hoping they also have second generation copies. At least they may have some of them.
This reminds me of the time ABC trashed all of its In Concert videos because they ran out of storage space. Some great performances including Cat Stevens Moon and Star Concert which featured Linda Ronstadt as a special guest. What a shame. And the sad thing is that many of those aired before the masses had vcr recorders. Only selective few had them. And that particular concert had ABC and Dick Clark at odds with each other with both claiming rights but neither could prove who owned it. My niece who is in the "business" and does patents and copyrights in the industry had her friends at ABC do a search for me but it wasn't in their inventory or records. That means if there IS a copy that Dick Clark Productions might have it but I doubt it. The performance we see on youtube was posted by forum member Julian who bought it from a collector. I am thinking it is a copy unless the guy who sold it to him was a dumpster diver and grabbed as much as he could. We really lucked out that someone had that. It is probably my favorite live Linda segment.

Please refer to the post about this under General Music Discussion. I posted at least two weeks ago and then the follow-up article about acts suing Universal.

Thanks, Rick. Fortunately for Linda, us fans and for posterity sake she is not on that list and it would go into General Music Discussion. Some of us including I think Erik and AZ would love if all copies of "Don't Stop Believing" were gone. It obviously a good song and I'm kidding but it is played absolutely ad nauseum. What a shame re: this incident. I saw Hoyt and J. Buffet (whom my other half likes) and I got sad. eddiejinnj

Quote by eddiejinnj:
I think it would behoove us to think twice about making that assumption. Linda recorded "Somewhere Out There" with James Ingram for the 1986 animated film AN AMERICAN TAIL, and "Dreams To Dream" for 1991's AN AMERICAN TAIL: FIEVEL GOES WEST; both of those films were released by Universal (though they were produced by Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment). If the masters for those songs were in that vault, they may very well be gone.

Wow!!! So is there another list of movies effected, Erik? Especially "Dreams to Dream". It is one of those songs she sang almost anthemically (might be new word, lol) and what tech in the future could do with it one only can imagine. It is her "My Heart Will Go On". Meaning that by her performance of DTD, one can see that she would have given an equally remarkable version of the Titanic song. Linda definitely has the chops to do it!!!! eddiejinnj
PS: Runner up imo would be "The Man I Love". Amazing range effortlessly displayed while needing control at times in that song!!!! Hey, Muse, how have you been? Like Your Items wish list.

The FM soundtrack was also a Universal release.

The FM soundtrack was also a Universal release. The really sad thing about that is if there was FULL concert footage from the two days it was recorded that too may be lost. Linda was at the top of her game at that concert.

Definite shame. I wonder whether they could have used them to do another live album since that was a Linda sanctioned concert filmed with her permission. I guess we'll never know unless somebody else would have full or partial copy somewhere else. eddiejinnj
