What's the first record that everyone here ever bought? Mine was Def Leppard - Hysteria in 1987. Still one of my favorites. Perfect blend of hard rock, heavy metal, pop and ballads.

The first record I can recall buying was getting Mad Love when it came out in February 1980 (I was only nine and a half years old at the time, and we still had record players back in "Those days").

First Single was The Kinks "Autumn Almanac" First LP Joni Mitchell "Blue" and I think this was also the first CD but it may have been Kate Bush "Hounds Of Love"

The first single I bought was Surfin’ Bird by The Trashmen and I bought my first LP Loretta Lynn Sings the same day. I remember thinking Loretta Lynn Sings was a dumb album title because what else would she do on a record.

And "Surfin' Bird" was used in the Hue battle sequence of director Stanley Kubrick's classic 1987 Vietnam War film FULL METAL JACKET.
