I'm a lifelong Linda fan since I was a kid. Watched all the times she was nominated for Grammys and the Tony Award. Yet this week was the first I heard that she'd been nominated for a Golden Globe for the Pirates of Penzance movie. I guess it was before the Globes were as big a TV spectacle as it is now. Anyway, she was up against two of her Grammy rivals, Barbra Streisand for Yentl and Irene Cara for Flashdance as well as the late, great Anne Bancroft and winner Julie Walters. Just nice to still be discovering new facts about the Lovely Linda.

Thanks for resharing...missed it before. I wonder if Linda was there? Good question. Sometimes I think word gets out on who the winner might be so many nominees don't show up. I would be curious to know how Linda felt about that nomination? She never regarded herself as an actress so it may have been too much for her to take in. I always thought she did a great job in Pirates, especially the stage version.

The Globes are much more of an event now than they were. Now everybody shows up. But back then, it just wasn't as big a deal to attend or watch. And they showed still pics of all the nominees so the only one we know for sure was there was the winner.
