Just curious to know if anyone has any information... Hasten Down The Wind is my favourite Linda Ronstadt album (occasionally when I'm in the mood, Mad Love challenges for this position and runs it very close, but Hasten just about holds its ground), and I'm just intrigued to know if anyone knows about other songs that were recorded at the sessions, tracks that didn't make the cut that kind of thing. I'm so enamoured by everything on the album being perfectly placed into a beautiful thing and have been for a number of decades but I'd be intrigued to know what 'could have been'. I know it's a bit random and maybe even pointless, but .... there you are :-)

All noted, although nothing seems to relate directly to Hasten Down The Wind and it was just on the off chance that a few titles from the recording sessions which didn't make it to the album might be known about. I'm not so naive to think the tracks might be available out there, but it's just out of curiosity. In my experience out-takes, alternate and unfinished tracks are rarely worth more than one listen.

Not unreleased tracks but alternate takes. I'm not aware of any other video of Linda in the studio for an entire song.

Pretty sure ”Falling Star” came from the Living in the USA sessions

Pretty sure ”Falling Star” came from the Living in the USA sessions Yes, it did. And I don't recall any from Hasten sessions but am thinking Karla may have sent Linda more than the 3 she recorded. Falling Star could have been one of those but not recorded until Living was in process.

Falling Star could have been one of those but not recorded until Living was in process. John Rockwell's "Stranded" chapter says: "...during the making of Living in the U.S.A., one song was ultimately left off the album because, as Linda put it, 'I sang it like a librarian.' " I always wondered if that was "Falling Star." If it was, I disagree with Linda but maybe she changed her mind since it was on "Box Set."

The ending of the song slays me with her range when she (and please tell me the word for it) is humsinging. To be honest, I think the song goes better on the album than "When I Grow Too Old To Dream" (though the song was very important to Linda; her love of standards peeping through). Also, going off subject a little I thought the it was unusual for the song to follow "Back in the USA". I think it would be good right before "Love Me Tender". eddiejinnj

I wish she could have included "Falling Star" on Living in the USA though I liked "When I Grow Too Old To Dream" on the album.

I like "WIGTOTD" especially her Muppets version. I just think that Falling Star could have been included and both songs put in an order that made sense. eddiejinnj

She could've included both but it didn't live up to her standards or fit the album. And then we may not have that wonderful Linda Kermit duo. If other unreleased material is this good Linda has the makings of a great album.
