New to the board but I just came across the Joe Smith interview of Linda for 1 hour and 45 minutes; fantastic listen for those who have not yet heard

Welcome to the forum, gboiler!!!!!! I will of course do a search for the interview but if you know how to post link that would be extremely appreciated. Today my comma isn't working (it's BAAAACK). Not sure if I am going to get it back. eddiejinnj

Thanks for link. I had to download Apple iTunes which I thought I had. I started to listen to it but will try and wait to listen to whole thing with me partner (me purposely). FYI, for those concerned my comma is back. LOL. Hey, at least I entertain myself. eddiejinnj

Hey, at about the 47:20 mark, she stops and sounds like "I have a problem with an addiction" and then something after which I can't make out. She states she stopped using during "Pirates" several years earlier. Anybody else pick up on that or having any thoughts or clarification?

I listened a few minutes before and after 47:20 and don't hear her saying that.

I hear her say something about an addiction and then what she follows up with is muffled a bit and he's talking over her a bit. I have it at the 51:00-51:30 mark.

I listened again, direct from Library of Congress site, right around 47 minutes on mine anyway; with volume way up "I have a problem with an addiction" pretty clear, after that; can't tell; she is talking about low points on tour and people in the band not listening "heard about 1/4 of what anybody said" just prior

An addiction can be an addiction to anything although most people may think of serious drugs. Somewhere along the line she was addicted to diet pills most likely from the pressure of looking thin while in the spotlight. I had an aunt who also struggled with taking diet pills and she couldn't sing, wasn't famous but had German ancestry much like Linda. Blame it on the Germans.

I think when Linda mentions "I have a problem with an addiction" she is referring to the glass of water. Linda has a dry sense of humor.

I think when Linda mentions "I have a problem with an addiction" she is referring to the glass of water. Linda has a dry sense of humor. That's because she is from the Sonoran Desert.

well, this is what I'm hoping to get opinions on since she claims she stopped during Pirates (1981-1982) and then this interview being done in 1986.

It was diet pills. She briefly mentions it in her documentary and, it was because of the pressure for her to look svelte in her prominent celebrity life. She did get beyond it about the time of Pirates of Penzeance, when she stopped worrying so much about what everyone thought of her career, and being pidgeonholed by certain set expectations.
