You reckon it is coming out because of Linda's resurgence in popularity? I have no clue what blue ray is but it seems you should get it while you can. I am guessing it is like laserdisc's of old? I am behind the times.

I think the Blu-Ray format gives much higher definition in terms of picture quality and stuff like that; but I think there are folks on here more nuanced on this than myself.

If you have the proper display, the Blu-ray is much noticeably more detailed than a standard DVD. (The recent DVD release of Penzance was the best I've ever seen. That movie is on TV all the time but I never saw it in the theater because all cinemas in SC boycotted it.)
I'm not a video geek but the clarity of Blu-ray is easy to see, although I was an early proponent of DVD-HD instead of Blu-ray. Back when I was a video geek.

I was thinking this was only a European release but I saw it on Amazon US so I bought it, along with a Tiny Tim DVD. I'll post my opinion on FM after it arrives and I've had a chance to watch the parts that matter to me.

Now would be a great time to bring out anymore of that concert that was filmed. Could help sell the DVD with all the Linda attention lately.

The Tiny Tim DVD is a documentary of sorts called Tiny Tim: The Last Hurrah. I don't know what to expect but the reviews were mostly positive.

Tony — Thank you! If you wouldn’t telling us about it after you watch it, I’d appreciate it.

I watched the blu-ray FM disc special features.
No Static At All, a new interview feature with Michael Brandon: He was more interesting that I expected. He was married to Lindsay Wagner at the time. He wrote the movie Starman. He spoke about meeting Linda Ronstadt at the request of Irving Azoff, who he referred to as Linda's manager. Azoff said he and Linda were having some friction at the time and she was not even aware her concert was going to be filmed. They told her at the last minute about her one spoken line.
Another feature included is The Spirit of Radio, by music and film critic Glenn Kenny. Fairly worthless. Apparently he hates Foghat because someone in his family sold their property to them.
As for the film itself, the presentation is very good. I had and still have a lot of problems with the plot of this movie. A lot of it is contrived BS that just doesn't make sense. Like for instance the beginning scene where the 6 AM jockey is racing to the radio station before the song from the night jock finishes playing, which they would lead us to believe is a daily ritual. And the guy who booked Ronstadt keeps getting jerked around at the concert. If it was his concert, he would most likely know the venue and be there well before the show starts.
And as usual, Linda's performance of Love Me Tender is butchered by the actual interruption of the movie's actual plot. If indeed Linda's full concert was filmed, those three songs in their entirety would have made much more valuable extras.
Also included as an extra is an interview with Ezra Sacks, who wrote this mess. It was his first project.
So if you love love love this movie, I would recommend this blu-ray disc. If you like the movie and already have a DVD, be satisfied.
This brought back memories of me seeing this movie on opening night in 1978. At the time my only interest in the movie was the concert footage by Linda Ronstadt and Jimmy Buffett. I was going to leave from work, pick up a friend, and head to the venue in Augusta. Unknown to me, my boss that day announced that I was getting a promotion. This incensed one of my coworkers who had expected the job, so before I left work she filled up her gullet with water from the water fountain and expectorated it all over my shirt. My home was too far away in the opposite direction so I had to go buy a new shirt.

Thanks for your review, Tony.
Was this woman reprimanded?

No reprimand. I didn't make an issue of it. It's not the only time I was assaulted on the job. A funny (assault) story for later.
