Wow.. there are way too many .I guess for starters this one.. This is the one that was playing in the stereo and album department at May Co when I was a kid which lured me to.. I had to find out who the artist was.. the retail lady had "A Retrospective by Linda Ronstadt playing on the turntable.

I pick two, one each from the far ends of her career: "Back on the Street Again" and the duet with Jimmy Webb "All I Know" the first I just like-God knows why. The second being Lindas last recording is just emotionally devastating. I haven't the skill to post these but they are both on YouTube so maybe someone with a bit more savvy can stick them up here. Ronstadfanaz- thanks for posting much appreciated!

When the singer's gone Let the song go on Its a fine line between the darkness and the dawn You say in the darkest night there's a light beyond
But the ending always comes at last Endings always come too fast They come too fast, and they pass so slow I love you and that's all I know

Every song from her self-titled album and the Don't Cry Now Album - both are amazing. I recently listened to both records and they are AMAZING! Silk Purse: He Darked the Sun Heart Like a Wheel: The Dark End of the Street Prisoner in Disguise: The Sweetest Gift (the BEST!) Hasten Down the Wind: Give One Heart Simple Dreams: Carmelita and Simple Man, Simple Dream Feels Like Home: The Waiting, Walk On, Feels Like Home, High Sierra

Well for starters:
"Colorado" and "Desperado", from Don't Cry Now, for, I suppose, the Western feel and the imagery of the lyrics, and because Linda, being a child of the West herself, knows whereof she sings
"Old Paint", from Simple Dreams, for the same reasons.
"Don't Talk (Put Your Head On My Shoulder)", from Winter Light, because of Linda's ethereal voice and the synthesizer-sculpted arrangement.
"A River For Him", from Winter Light, her return to some of her folk/country territory (again with the use of synths and glass armonica), as well as the fact that her good pal Emmylou wrote it.
"Adonde Voy", from Winter Light--thanks to the fact that her fellow Mexican-American (and fan) Tish Hinojosa had written it, it captures the sparseness and heartbreak of migrating across such a hostile landscape as the US/Mexico border...even more so now than back in 1993-94.
"Heartbreak Kind", from We Ran--Linda returns to a kind of electric C&W/rock twang, thanks to Bernie Leadon helping out on harmony vocals and Telecaster lead electric guitar.

Jane and her friends once tried to dye my hair while I was incapacitated in the hospital. This song is a reminder as the nurses dying my hair didn't care and things didn't cost an arm and a leg because healthcare cost hadn't exploded like they do now under our system.
I like this Jewish christmas song. I once owned an old 1959 Dodge Coronet that was white as and big as a whale hence this song. We lovingly called it the white whale. My bubbe loved that old fish.

Not sure if "Just One Look" counts as a non-hit. It only reached number 44 on the Billboard 100 in 1979, but it's a fan favorite, she nearly always sang it live and it's on all of her greatest hits albums. I love it.

Tracks is definitely a hit. Number 25 on Billboard Hot 100 chart. Heartbeats was on Dick Clark's countdown. It entered and tmk left the chart one week at number 40. Also, are we counting AC charts? I know Oh No was on it and have to check Heartbeats again. JOL was a bigger AC hit than Hot 100. Eddiejinfl

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I'd like to add "Dreams to Dream" and "A dream is a wish your heart makes." Great songs, shame that they're not that well known. "An American Tail" was on CBC today and it made me think of them.
