It always amazed me just how charming and pleasant Linda was during interviews from the 70s and 80s. I feel like it's not very well known how knowledgeable and articulate she has always been. When she speaks on stage or laughs or during interviews explains stories and such. She's always been so bright and charismatic as well as intelligent.

That's just some of the many reasons we love her so much. Her personality is bigger than her voice. Didn't someone here coin her as "the smiling rock star?" She lights up a room.

Quote by goldie:
You won't hear me dispute that here, of course. I do recall, of course, that a lot of very, how shall we say, chauvinistic rock critics back in the 70s often deemed Linda to be ditzy and even stupid because of her bubbly, effusive personality and her nervous giggle. But this was something that no less an authority on Linda than J.D. Souther himself shot down when he referred to Linda as "one of the most well-read people I know."

Just wanted to add that anyone who extemporaneously quotes Joseph Conrads "Heart of Darkness" is by definition no dummy!

I had been listening to Linda sing for years before I ever heard her speaking voice. When I finally heard her speak, I was shocked at the difference. Compared to her singing voice, which was so big and powerful, her speaking voice was was that of a little girl! Really cute, and she spoke real fast, as most singers do. Intelligent and delightfully articulate throughout all of her life. And skillful at debate as well. Hence the great success she's also enjoyed with her speaking tours.
Her voice is just magic, whether singing or talking. I could listen to her all day.

I can't believe anybody would call Linda ditzy or stupid.

I remember Linda being interviewed on a UK TV show in the late 80s when she was here promoting CLARHLTW ..... the interviewer asked her one question and she talked for about 4 minutes and he responded that "this is a great interview, I don't have to do any work!" to which Linda replied something like "I never have any problem talking apart from when I'm on stage when I just sing"
She is very knowledgeable (not ditzy or stupid at all), coming from the fact that she's well read I guess ..... her interviews are always enlightening, thorough and interesting.
