It's being reported over on The Motown Forum that singer Clydie King passed away. She sang back-up for Linda on both "Don't Cry Now" and "Heart Like a Wheel," as well as for many other musicians.
On The Motown Forum, Johnny Raven started the thread by saying: " Clydie King passed away last night at the age of 75. " By last night, I believe he means Monday, Jan. 7. Someone pointed out that Clydie is featured in the documentary "20 Feet From Stardom."
Will post more details as they become available.
Is this Clydie singing "back-up" for Linda on "The Midnight Special" ? --

Yes, that is Clydie King in the gold outfit and Shirlie Matthews in the darker outfit. Clydie was really getting into the groove.

...the BACKBONE of our American Music Greatest Backup Generation!!!
she and two others.....I think both from or should have been in 20 Feet, which I loved....
the chick that sang great gig in the sky and the chick from the stones
Merry CLAYTON
& Clare Torrey (THIS jsut blew me out of the WATER....always THOUGHT she was Blaackk!! I remember I had the sheet music for it and my voice teacher,,,,,classically trained at the college goes "do you want to sing like that straight up your nose??--ahhah TO ME IT WAS HEAVEN!!)
I recorded an entire "cover" of dark side in a TV studio with about 30 musicians and the leader sitting there teling me to Breath Breathe.....they demanded i let em film me...said no....it was quite a "event'...need to look it up!

She sang for Steely Dan a lot too, along with Sherlie Matthews and Venetta Fields.
