I've been lurking on these forums for a year and a half or so now and I have to ask, is there a reason there is no thread or forum for trading live shows/bootlegs? Are bootlegs something frowned upon around here, or am I just so late to the party that all of you have them all, and there's no need to trade? Just curious. Thanks, everyone, for your time, and seemingly infinite LR knowledge.

Wouldn't that go in the collectibles and commerce section of this site?

Wouldn't that go in the collectibles and commerce section of this site? It could, I suppose. I wasn't necessarily thinking about physical copies (or money) changing hands. I have 16 live shows that I am willing to list and put up for downloading if anyone is interested. Absolutely free of charge. All shows I've found on the internet. I'm only asking first as I'm not sure if it's frowned upon on the forums or not. If it's OK with the mods, I can put them in Collectibles and Commerce, or wherever. As prolific a performer as Linda was, I KNOW there has to be more live shows out there than the 16 I have. That's why I thought a "trading thread" might be of interest to folks.

Any response yet? I know that a link was give a few months ago to Cornish Pirate, but I never downloaded at that invitation. I bought a few concert and TV-clip DVDs from the Internet in the past six months, quality is generally poor (although I did notice that LR's knitted (?) outfit in the late 60's-early'70s "Frisbee on the Beach" TV clip had a big rip/hole - nothing obscene, but made me remember how the quality/condition of the clothes back then weren't a big deal).

70smusicfan,
It seems no one else is interested. I started this thread in hopes of expanding/improving on the Live Linda stuff that I have. If you are interested, send me a PM and I can give you links to the shows that I have. I should note that they are all MP3. No video. Thanks for the interest. I tried...

No, please keep trying. A lot of us do wait a while for this stuff to come up; and sometimes it comes from unexpected places. You just never know from where, or when it'll happen.

Thanks for posting all your shows reverendb. On checking, it seems I didn't have the Amsterdam concert, thought I did, but couldn't find it. It's good quality sound too. Here's the actual dates of your concerts which only gave the year, if you're interested Sausalito : 'Live At The Record Plant', Sausalito, CA, 18 Nov 1973 Berkeley : 18 July 1974 Boston : Boston Music Hall, 06 Dec 1976 Dallas : Thanksgiving Day Concert, Reunion Arena, Dallas, Texas, 25 Nov 1982 Detroit : 01 Feb 1974 McCabes : 'McCabes Guitar Shop With Country Gazette' actually 1972 Roslyn : My Father's Place, Roslyn, New York, 21 July 1974 Holmdel : Garden States Arts Center, Holmdel, NJ, 19 July 1996 San Jose : 22 Sept 1975 I'll dig out a few concerts you haven't got and post them. Mine are in flac format mainly, so I'll have to convert them to mp3 first. Alan

Here's a couple you don't have reverendb. I did upload the Shoreline concert on the old forum many years ago so the more seasoned forum members ;D probably already have it. Click on the links below. (In zip format). Shoreline Amphitheatre, Mountain View, CA, 27 Oct 1990Beacon Theatre, New York, 04 Dec 1975There are also 5 Linda concerts available from Wolfgang's Vault. You already have a couple I think but they're $5 each to download. I could post them here but Wolfgang may not be too happy. The Universal Amphitheatre Nov 3 1976 is really San Diego, Jul 14 1979 and I have that in better quality than Wolfgang so I could post that one. Alan PS. On further searching I did already have the Amsterdam concert but thanks for getting me to find it again. ;D

dianna - do you mean when you double-click a zip file after downloading, is when the problems start. It should run the zip-file extract utility if you are using windows XP or later versions. There are also freeware programs which handle them too (and more). Two common ones are izarc and 7-zip. It may be that zip files have been wrongly associated with another program or your anti-virus is being a bit over zealous. The zip files here just contain a number of mp3 files squashed together, so you only have to download one file rather than 10 or 20 separate mp3 files. If you right-click on the downloaded zip file does an option to 'Extract to...' or similar apper on the menu that appears? Installing one of the free versions below is the easiest way to get everything working OK (izarc is probably easier for those less computer savvy ). Many files uploaded to file sharing sites are in .zip or the newer .rar format and these programs will deal with them all. www.izarc.org/www.7-zip.org/Hope that helps, Alan Oooh! I'm not a mingler anymore. ;D

Alan, I had the same issue as Dianna, only with the Beacon Theater show. The California show downloaded without a problem. I tried and tried, it would not download. Finally, I got an antivirus warning screen to, which I just ignored, and it came through fine. Scanning my music hard drive now. My antivirus found nothing. Can't understand what the problem was.

Sorry dianna, I didn't know it was just the one file you had trouble with (like reverendb). I just downloaded the Beacon and apart from two goes to get the captcha right it downloaded fine. Scanned it with 2 virus scanners and reported clean. Extracted it and got my original 21 mp3s. Downloaded it again, and again it was fine. The zip file should be 112MB in size. (117,893,709 bytes to be exact). If it wouldn't download implies a problem with mediafire or their requests were getting redirected to some malware, if you got virus alerts while downloading. Edit: Thanks reverendb for updating your post saying you have it now with no problems. I can't explain it either. Alan

I've listened to this concert three times today, right through - start to finish - it is absolutely amazing. Such a wonderfully diverse collection of songs, Linda sounds funny and at ease (and not annoyed by idiots shouting our Heatwave and Blue Bayou in the middle of the show) - but shining above everything is her voice, simply beautiful, powerful and perfect ...... Thank you to whoever posted this! there must be more gems to share ??

Are you sure about the location of the 21 August 75 show? Just curious because my first ever concert was Linda, around that date, in Lenox but it was at Tanglewood (an outdoor venue). Could be she did more than one venue in the area while on tour.

Not directly related - but for all you reading about Live Shows... I attended a Larry Coryell, Victor Bailey, Lenny White Concert last night. The show was in a small theater that was only half full. The disabled American Vet (a jazz aficiniado who claimed to have 6000 records in his collection) next to me about my age (mid-50s) was disgusted with the turnout. He was of the opinion that it was our obligation to try to support these artist and attend these shows. The show was magical - each of the artists, close to if not the tops in fusion - brought their A+++ game - their interaction and improvisation was mind numbing. Perhaps the vet was right - while we enjoy immensely these snippets from the past - we should look for our favorite (and related) performers who are still performing. I think I'll check out the Karla Bonoff concert coming up soon.

While that may be true about supporting these artists there are an awful lot of people juggling utility bills right now while working two jobs if they are lucky enough to have a job, let alone two.
