This unique talent sadly died young. In this video Hawaiian natives celebrate Iz's life by tossing his ashes into the ocean. Sad but happy.

Definitely the "unusual" category (if Tiny Tim and Britney Spears had a child that looked like Prince William and could sing, kind of)

This is the first remake of this song I've ever liked:
Rufus Wainwright He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother
This was one of my very favorite songs for years after it was released by the Hollies. It has an interesting background for those of you who were unaware. My first exposure to the title was in the movie Boys Town which was instrumental in influencing my university studies in juvenile delinquency and social work.
Origin of the title
In 1884, James Wells, Moderator of the United Free Church of Scotland, in his book The Parables of Jesus tells the story of a little girl carrying a big baby boy. Seeing her struggling, someone asked if she wasn't tired. With surprise she replied: "No, he's not heavy; he's my brother."
In a 1918 publication by Ralph Waldo Trine titled The Higher Powers of Mind and Spirit, he relates the following anecdote: "Do you know that incident in connection with the little Scottish girl? She was trudging along, carrying as best she could a boy younger, but it seemed almost as big as she herself, when one remarked to her how heavy he must be for her to carry, when instantly came the reply: 'He's na heavy. He's mi brither.'"
The first editor of Kiwanis magazine, Roe Fulkerson, published a column in September 1924 carrying the title "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother", the first use of the phrase exactly as it is rendered in the song title.
In the 1940s, the words, adapted as "He ain't heavy, Father, he's my brother", were taken as a slogan for Boys Town children's home by founder Father Edward Flanagan.

Poor Wandering One (live stage version)
Gilbert and Sullivan's raucous operatic tale is captured in all its fun and glory in this production, recorded live at Central Park's Delacorte Theater. Kevin Kline sparkles as the swashbuckling and libidinous Pirate King while Linda Ronstadt makes her theatrical debut as the lovely and virginal Mabel. When Mabel and Frederic, a young pirate bound to serve the Pirate King, fall in love, complications arise and high spirited antics ensue. The incomparable cast offers the best in this boisterous romp.
Despite some of the technical shortcomings of the DVD I found it more rewarding than the 1983 movie. I would thoroughly recommend adding a copy of this DVD to your library.

Horror Musical Instrument - The Apprehension Engine
Sounds of the Nightmare Machine
What happens when a horror movie composer and a guitar maker join forces? They create the world’s most disturbing musical instrument. Affectionately known as "The Apprehension Engine," this one-of-a-kind instrument was commissioned by movie composer Mark Korven. Korven wanted to create spooky noises in a more acoustic and original way—but the right instrument didn't exist. So his friend, guitar maker Tony Duggan-Smith, went deep into his workshop and assembled what has to be the spookiest instrument on Earth.

no video here but when Linda Ronstadt sings this song it blows me away every time When I Stop Dreaming cornishwrecks.co.uk/lrfiles/1975McCabes/11_WhenIStopDreaming(pitch-125).mp3 When I stop dreaming That's when I'll stop loving you.
Well the worst that I've ever been hurt in my life The first time I ever have wanted to die Was the night when you told me you loved someone else And you asked me if I could forget.
When I stop dreaming That's when I'll stop loving you.
Well you can teach all the flowers to bloom in the snow You may take a pebble and teach it to grow
You can teach all the raindrops to return to the clouds But you can't teach my heart to forget.
When I stop dreaming That's when I'll stop loving you
When I stop dreaming That's when I'll stop loving you...

In order to play a drunk, you have to be stone cold sober. But with Foster Brooks, you can never be sure...except that you will laugh yourself silly when you see the way he roasts Don Rickles on a classic Dean Martin Celebrity Roast from the early 1970s:
