Well, they definitely see a lot of things (Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep, the story of the Pentagon Papers, etc.) in the film that warrant the honor, and its relevance to today. Not that I needed to be sold on it in any way, but this is huge!
They must really be sure of this one (IMHO).

One cannot help but be amazed at the relationship between Katharine Graham and Ben Bradlee during this ultra-tumultuous period of our history, and why they risked their own paper's existence in the name of the Truth to publish this unseemly treasure trove of documents that proved that what America had been told about Vietnam was so tragically and patently false.
Again, this is another reason why I am just champing at the bit to see this film.

Well, after salivating for months about it, I finally got to see THE POST, and my reaction is this:
RUN, DON'T WALK, TO YOUR LOCAL MULTIPLEX!
THE POST is that good, that essential a film, yet another masterpiece from Steven Spielberg.

It was the Washington Post owned by Jeff Bezos of Amazon that did a dozen hit pieces on Bernie Sanders IN ONE DAY in their attempt to bring him down. How FAR they have fallen!
