Melanie was born and raised in the Astoria neighborhood of Queens, New York City. Her father, Fred, was of a Ukrainian ethnic background and her jazz singer mother, Pauline "Polly" Altomare Safka-Bertolo (1926-2003), was of Italian heritage.[4][5] Melanie made her first public singing appearance at age four on the radio show Live Like A Millionaire, performing the song "Gimme a Little Kiss". She attended Red Bank High School in Red Bank, New Jersey, after transferring from Long Branch High School, graduating in 1964.[6]
In the 1960s, when she was starting out, Melanie performed at The Inkwell, a coffee house in the West End section of Long Branch, New Jersey. After school, her parents insisted that she go to college, so she studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York,[7] where she began singing in the folk clubs of Greenwich Village and signed her first recording contract.
Both my parents graduated from Red Bank High. Lincroft people would have gone to Red Bank High. They may still or maybe Monmouth Regional. I remember a very late blurry night (I was not the driver) at the "Inkwell". That was approximately 1988 or '89. No wonder, I don't drink now I get sooooo sick and probably was after the "Inkwell Night" as I call it. It not worth it to me.
Rob, I think at one time I was told she wasn't born in NJ but I knew she lived here for a time. She is HS Jersey girl, lol. eddiejinnj

This photo is advertised on ebay as Linda Ronstadt. However, I don't believe it is. Over to the forum for comment:

yeah a lot of the girl rockers from the 80's, Pat, Joan Jett ect had big hair and big eyes like Linda.. And from a few of the photos I've seen of Linda (around the same time period of the above Pat Benatar photo) Linda is dressed similar to Pat.. skimpy skirt and top.. and both women had the figure to pull it off!

Wow. These last two are scary-close!
On a superficial level, I'm glad to see some of these yung'uns paying homage to Linda's vintage '70s "look" -- Ronstadt's "style" has been overlooked for too long.
I keep waiting for a drag queen to think outside of the usual-suspects box and resurrect Linda's iconography -- hair, hoop earrings, mini-skirt / bell bottoms, peasant blouse, bare feet, etc.

from an article in the current (May 2018) issue of Vanity Fair Magazine: I am only including these twins as Ronstadt look-alikes because of a paragraph in the article which you can see below the photograph.

Not a look a like but the girl in this commercial at around 0:13 has Linda's speaking voice. Not often do I hear a speaking voice close to Linda's, at least to me it does. lol

Hey Linda fans! I posted in other threads, but thought I would check on this one. The 'girl' in the red top is my daughter, Holly Aprecio. Holly is "Linda" in Just One Look - Tribute to Linda Ronstadt. We have been doing this tribute to Linda for about 6 years now, including several out of state shows per year (shows in PA and OH this year). We are based in Seattle, WA. Holly is not a "Linda Wanna Be" but with Linda unable to perform any longer, it is a joy for us to keep this great music alive. Indeed our greatest compliment is when someone comes up to us following a show and says, "After seeing you, I went to Amazon and bought all Linda's albums again." The purpose of a tribute is to do just that - Tribute. Holly does not use first person when talking, but we try to recreate the experience of hearing and seeing Linda, and seeing does include pulling off the "look". While it's easy to look at a photo and see the differences, you need to remember that we are on a stage generally far away from the audience, who are not looking at a high res photo on a flat screen high def monitor, otherwise, they would notice that Holly has blue eyes! A lot of differences close up, but from the audience we receive lots of compliments each show. Indeed, about 6-10 times a year, we have to tell someone somewhere that the image they are portraying as Linda is actually Holly, including a pirated CD called, "A Party Girl in Dallas" that has Holly's picture on it. It was totally swiped off the internet and there's nothing we can do about it but notify the offending parties, and I assure you we do. Included in our show is several wardrobe and wig changes portraying "Linda" through the years. We start with Stone Pony's white dress and headband, big hoop earrings. Go to 1970's Linda with the big red flower, then to short hair red dress with white polka dots per "Get Closer". We even do a Theater show called The Tribute Time Machine where we had Holly in the Livin in the USA Roller Skates with satin jacket! Funny on that though, dad had to tighten the wheels down so she wouldn't ROLL AWAY!! Anyway, any one feeling that we're not doing Linda justice, or trying to BE Linda, believe me we are simply trying to call attention to something that was amazing and gets hardly ANY airplay. We take people back in time when rock radio ruled and Linda was the QUEEN! ARNY BAILEY www.justonelookband.com

If anyone has any doubts about Holly or Arny's sincerity about Linda or their motivations you only need to visit Holly's heartwarming instagram site to see what kind of family they are. We should all be proud to have them in our Ronstadt camp:

(And Linda would be thrilled as well. I am sure of that.)
