It only seems right for Lucas to have this museum be right at his alma mater (from the looks of the artist rendering, it will be built near the northwest side of the Coliseum). It should be said that he made THX 1138 4EB at USC (he later turned it into a feature film in 1970 as, simply THX 1138, thanks to his mentor Francis Coppola; and of course the THX sound system in theaters is named for that film).
It is also interesting to point out that a lot of people think that Steven Spielberg was a fellow student of Lucas' at USC, but that isn't quite the case. Spielberg's high school grades weren't good enough for him to go there, and he went to Cal State Long Beach instead. However, both Lucas and Spielberg befriended one another during that time since both men were inveterate filmgoers in their youth.
