I'm sorry to have to tell everyone this, but unfortunately my mom and I weren't able to see Linda Friday night in West Chester. My Mom fell as we were walking to the concert hall. It happened sometime between 7:30-8. She fell forward on the sidewalk and hit her head. Not sure how it happened...she said she felt top heavy and just went down. She was taken by ambulance to Chester County Hospital. They did x-rays and nothing is broken though. But she had a lot of swelling on her forehead and now both of her eyes are black. The swelling has gone down though.
She's home now and I'm taking care of her. I took her to see her doctor yesterday to follow up. Thank God she's going to be okay. She felt so bad that she missed seeing Linda and hearing her speak. I felt terrible too, but my Mom was obviously my only concern. It really scared me.
A friend of mine, Lucy Lofland, drove all the way up from North Carolina...a 10 hour drive. She gave a gift to Janet, Linda's assistant (a pink sweatshirt I believe). She actually took one of the seats that my mom and I had. She told me that the program was the same as what we saw in Delaware in 2015. She also said that Janet got her name and address, and that she will get a thank you note from Linda.
I was actually hoping to give something to Linda as well. One was the article that I wrote on her for the Sun-Gazette, which I posted earlier, and the other was a local magazine that includes a feature I wrote on Music In Our Schools and the talent we have in the school districts in Centre County, Pa. I know she likes to read, and I thought she would enjoy it since it's related to music and how important it is to keep music programs in our schools.

She said I could mail the items for Linda to her. She told me how sorry she was to hear about my Mom falling and that she hoped she would be okay...and me too. She and Linda are both very caring. She also said that they both though West Chester was a charming college town. I told her it would be nice if Linda could come to Penn State sometime. I also told her that they left just in time, because as I speak we are getting hammered with a major snow storm here on the East Coast. I'm so sorry to hear this. That's a really tough thing for your mom to go through . My hope for a rapid recovery. Be Well.

That is almost a nightmare scenario but my guess is that it caught Linda's attention and will stay with her more than it might had things gone as planned. So your next communication with her may be a more special one. Glad your mom is ok. Probably quite shaken though. They say when you have a fall like that it might be a good idea to take a daily aspirin for awhile unless she is already on blood thinners. Prevents clotting especially if she is like me and doesn't stay hydrated like she should. I am sure all here will send good vibes to you both so take heart.

I can't imagine what it was like for my mom. She is on a blood thinner, so she can't take aspirin. She is doing much better. One thing is that her back is feeling great. She had been having back problems. So I don't know how to explain that. I'm just so glad she's starting to heal and on her way to getting back to normal. Thanks to everyone for all your well wishes.

I wonder if she meant to say the name on her birth certificate was Linda Maria Ronstadt? That makes sense. Birth certificate and baptismal record are not the same thing, and I guess it's a question of which one would think carry the greatest weight? In this case, I would think it would have to be the name on the birth certificate since how one's name is given on a birth certificate is what one has to use on any legal documents. I don't know if a baptismal record would have any standing to be used for legal documents. Since Linda never "Anglicized" her name - and I'm taking her to mean that by that she didn't switch her name around on her birth certificate to reflect her baptismal record, her name for legal purposes is Linda Maria (or Marie) Ronstadt. She may prefer to be known as Maria Linda but that's a personal preference and what's reflected on her baptismal record, but not her birth certificate.
During Linda's response, I got the sense that she definitely thought of herself as a "Linda". As for her middle name, it listed as "Maria"on the checks from the early 70's offered for sale occasionally on e-Bay.

I did read all the above. Cub so sorry you missed it and that your mom is doing well. Maybe something kicked in in her immune system when her eyes were healing that helped her back. Just completely guessing but I am glad she is better. I had given something to Linda at the last minute in NYC. I really would like to know if Linda got it. If you could private me Janet Stark's e-mail, I would really appreciate it. eddiejinnj

Janet Stark does not like her email address given out, and anyone who did so would end up on Janet's sheet list.
Her email address used to be j********k@***.com but I think she no longer uses that one.

I am a writer and have a professional relationship with them, and I'm not at liberty to give out any information that should be kept private. I have never, nor would I want to, given out any contact info for people I correspond with in regard to my writing, whether it be publicists, managers, agents, assistants, or the performers themselves. I have the utmost respect for everyone I've interviewed and written about, and I treat them all the same. I haven't posted here on the forum in a while, and I'm not so sure it's a good idea to say anything that may give others any ideas. Thank you!

People have talked about e-mailing Janet in the past and many stars go through their assistants. I was more concerned with your mom and wanted to say I was glad she was better but I had given Linda something in the past and I just wanted to know if Linda got it. I understand your post but I honestly and this is subjective feel it wasn't necessary to put my full quote above. Your point is well taken and was covered clearly in your separate thread on here and your professional ethics kept intact. It was an off the cuff request and I do apologize for my impulsiveness but I did ask you to at least private me. I have thought about writing Linda since I was 14 but I never did really because of the issues you bring up and I am not a pushy fan in the least. I had a fantasy of sending her a silver bangle and then see a pic in a publication with her wearing it amongst her others. I never did. I fully understand the issue of "fandom" (made up word I think) and privacy. All the best and keep writing about Linda!!!! eddiejinnj

That's okay...I understand. Thank you for caring about my mom...I really appreciate that, thank you! She's doing just fine now. In regard to Linda, I'm sure you have only the best intentions, and that you're not that type of fan. I can't imagine how Linda has dealt with it all these years. I don't think I would want to be that famous. And the thing is, she has never thought of herself in that way. Maybe that's one of the reasons she's kept her distance from fans at times, because she's so down-to-earth. I would probably be the same way.

No would have been enough. Kev
