Like we've been saying. Linda mention in paragraph below (glad the author didn't forget her). Full Salon article: An obvious first step to improve classic rock radio is to stop treating women like novelties, a multi-step process which means increasing the spins for artists it already plays (e.g., Scandal, The Pretenders, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, Pat Benatar, Lita Ford, Stevie Nicks) while adding other women into rotation; to name a few absent artists, The Runaways, Suzi Quatro, Bonnie Raitt, Joni Mitchell, Melissa Etheridge, Linda Ronstadt, Patti Smith and Blondie. With ’90s and even modern bands increasingly creeping into classic rock rotation, now’s the time to ensure classic rock doesn’t codify into an even more male-dominated genre.

Yeah, I saw this yesterday; it is a pretty good article and makes a good point about the lack of women in the 'classic rock' rotation...

In terms of Linda, there is, of course, tons of stuff that comfortably fits into the Classic Rock format--and not just the hits, of course. I've said it a lot of times here, but since Rock, after the late 1960s, became an album-driven genre, it would be safe to say that Linda was the very first female artist to have her career be defined as much by complete albums as by hit singles, if not more so.
And if I hear "Don't Stop Believin'" one more f***ing time on the radio, believe me, I am going to stop believing.

I know Erik they play it ad nauseum like Don't Stop by FM and several Eagles songs (sorry Eagles like ya but it tooo much). For the Eagles, I say that out of respect. For me you don't seem to appreciate them if you hear them so much. I probably hear them as much as Linda and I personally play her at home and not the Eagles. eddiejinnj

Well the Eagles don't bother me too much (I admit to being biased towards them), although, yes, they could also play some of the band's deeper album cuts every once in a while.
But I have a laundry list of stuff that I wish they either would stop playing period or at least play less of, and that includes Aerosmith, Lynyrd Skynyrd, U2, Springsteen, Def Leppard ("Pour Some Sugar On Me"), Whitesnake ("Here I Go Again"), a fair amount of Pink Floyd, and Queen. It just turns the air stale to hear the same things day in and day out, not to mention the same bands and artists.
What I'm afraid it boils down to is the continued codifying and corporatization of radio; everything's got to be in some neat little box for the sake of profit. But it doesn't necessarily make for great listening like it used to (IMHO).
