MORE TO COME I will add more years and if anyone has more to add to that year have at it. Personal reviews, set lists, your own photos from that year, clippings or scrapbook articles.... anything is appreciated. Andrew Gold discusses the making of "You're No Good" by Linda Ronstadt.Excerpt of an interview Andrew Gold gave to Linda's & his drummer Michael Botts (also of Bread). He details exactly how the Number One song "You're No Good" came to be. From playing the drums, the Beatle-esque guitar solo and so on... Andrew was Linda's Musical Director, arranger and multi-instrumentalist. The rest of the interview is available on Soundcloud. soundcloud.com/andrewgoldmusi...

I know she appeared at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids,MI. in 1974. I only know this because I was in high school trying to decide where to go to college the next year, and Aquinas sent me their monthly newspaper reviewing the concert. I decided to go to Aquinas partly because they were cool enough to get Linda Ronstadt. The review of her concert was positive- I wish I would have kept it.

Live at Berkeley Community Theater – July 18, 1974 – KSAN-FM
Ending up the week with the inimitable Linda Ronstadt, recorded live at Berkeley Community Theater on July 18th 1974.
Always one of the favorites and the personification of the laid-back California sound which seemed to be so prevalent in the early 1970s, particularly in America, especially in Southern California.
With the recent news regarding her health issues, Linda Ronstadt has pretty much withdrawn from the public eye. But her music and her immense talent are with us always, and there are so many reminders of what a truly great talent she is, and always will be.
If you’ve come to her music late, here’s a good place to start. If you need a reminder of the tremendous and special talent Linda Ronstadt has been all about, crank it up, relax and give a listen.

I saw Linda at the Univesity of Virginia coliseum in 1974.......I know this because I specifically went to see the opening act, JJ Cale. He played 25 minutes at most. It was very cold and late in the year. It could have been 1975 but I am 90% sure it was 74. Anyone got anything on this to help an old man's memory ?

He released Okie in April of that year so I am sure he was on the road promoting it. Linda sang his song Don't Go To Strangers in her act as late as 1972-73.
Hard to find stuff on JJ. Try here: www.stevehoffman.tv/
Lots of fans at that forum. He also has a facebook page but I can't get on it for some reason.

Saw the Jan. 10th Popejoy Hall show. Jackson was delayed at a Mexican restaurant so Linda ended up opening for him then, too. She was not amused.

Linda performed in Charlotte,NC during the fall of 1974. It was a Friday or Saturday. She was the opening act for the Earl Scruggs Review. I attended this show and I am sure Andrew Gold was with her.

Is it possible this is January 18? She did perform at the venue that night, but was on the James Taylor tour through July Also I have updated the list with more shows. Still feels a bit sparse though.

I edited the 1974 schedule to add "Park" to Asbury in NJ on July 20. I hung out in Asbury Park a lot as a kid and in '74 was still there a lot. My aunt lived in Bradley Beach and my Grandma lived with her. We used to go there summers when my Mom had to work. We used to walk up to the ocean in Bradley Beach and walk to Asbury Park two towns north of Bradley Beach. My friend's Dad owned 15% of the Casino and we used to get in free and hang on all the rides and fun house for hours. I do not really recall the Casino Arena too much. I know that I saw Joan Jett in like '81 or '82 at the Paramount Theater which was part of the Convention Hall complex. By the time I started going to concerts when I was 17, I don't recall shows being advertised at the Casino Arena. eddiejinnj
