I love the backstage picture from this gig of Linda doing a can-can thing with her dress.

This video has been posted before, but it shows Linda singing part of "My Boyfriend's Back," as mentioned in the article --

Not sure where. I remember the state's biggest daily newspaper did a story on him and there was a mention of him and Linda being cousins and playing on her records. But, not much was said about his famous cousin. The article was more on him and all of the artists he had played with, as well as his own career.

I love the backstage picture from this gig of Linda doing a can-can thing with her dress. If you look closely at that picture, Linda is not even touching her dress. You can see just looking at how she has her hands. It looks like Don Henley is pulling on her dress. Just joking around with Linda? Not sure why else he would do that. Looks amusing, especially with Linda's cute expression. But it's a great pic of Linda with Jerry and all those musical legends......the Eagles with Joe Walsh, Jackson Browne, David Lindley, and the late Dan Fogelberg.

She sounds great singing My Boyfriends Back .... Fab, I agree. On the marquee, it says that the Las Vegas concert was Dec. 22, 1979.... "Mad Love" was released two months later in February 1980. She certainly has that "Mad Love" haircut here. I have a feeling that Linda probably recorded "My Boyfriend's Back" and "The Shoop-Shoop Song (It's In His Kiss)" in the studio but these have yet to see the light of day.

Thank you PoP80 for posting the image.
I have seen it before (it's from the 14 May 1976 Capital Centre fundraiser for Jerry Brown).
Where I became confused was the article referred to the December 1979 San Diego Sports Arena fundraiser and mentioned 2 photos in the gallery with only one photo available on the web page - Gov. Jerry Brown and Glenn Frey. The second photo (of Linda Ronstadt) is missing.
Overall there is a distinct lack of images from the December 1979 San Diego and Las Vegas fundraiser concerts even though "papers all around the country" were in attendance.

Would be good if they both surfaced one day - perhaps on a remastered Mad Love cd??

I was just thinking that as well as Linda does the "shoop shop song" and "my boyfriend's back" she would have done great vocals for "Grease". She was tmk offered the role of Sandy. eddiejinnj

No doubt she would have been great on a soundtrack, but Linda will admit she was never comfortable in front of a movie camera...

I'm afraid, she's no Meryl Streep (but, who is??) and Linda is a better singer than Meryl! They do share the same hair and makeup artist, though.

Indeed .... If Linda had acting aspirations she could have been Sandy in Grease and possibly Princess Leia in Star Wars courtesy of her boyfriend at the time George Lucas!

Fab, I am really no expert on this, but I know that Linda was involved with Jerry Brown in the latter part of the 1970s. We know from Linda that Jerry Brown was at her house when Joseph Papp called and offered Linda the role of Mabel in "Pirates of Penzance." For some reason, I thought Linda dated George in the 1980s after his divorce and before he later remarried. Linda did recording and post a lot at Skywalker Ranch it seems to me even after they split up. Someone please correct me if I have the chronology wrong.

They were an item much of the 80s, and I think Cry Like A Rainstorm was recorded at Skywalker. I also remember a 60 Minutes interview where George Lucas called Linda the only woman he ever loved....

No doubt she would have been great on a soundtrack, but Linda will admit she was never comfortable in front of a movie camera... I don't think Linda would've been as uncomfortable in front of a movie camera as she imagined. She was quite photogenic and that would've reflected on film. And movies were never quite like Broadway, where if you forgot your lines, it could make for an embarrassing and awkward moment. You forget your lines in a movie, the director would yell cut while you maybe reached for a copy of the script. Had Linda decided on making a few movies, I think she would've been careful in not taking on anything too demanding. More for fun than anything else. But, I did think she had a potential that was worth exploring but it ended up being a road not taken. All that said, I could not have seen her in the movie version of "Grease," dancing around with John Revolting - er um, John Travolta, although Linda wearing that leather outfit Olivia Newton-John wore would've had some appeal. The leather outfit would had to have been modified because of Olivia being quite a bit taller than Linda. However, I don't think Linda would've looked comfortable smoking on a cigarette. (In her concert, Olivia Newton-John admitted to smoking very briefly, trying to develop a smokey singing voice, but gave it up because she didn't really like it.) Still, I believe Linda would've been believable in any movie she appeared in.

Incorrect dateline aside, it's fun to think what could have been .... But I'm pleased we had the great recording career instead.
