For me LITUSA was good from "Ooh Baby Baby" & "Just One Look".
But the rest has grown on me. BITUSA sang with Chuck Berry (LRBS), is the greatest, "Mohammed's Radio" at her The Summit concert, is top, and the others I listen to, especially "Love Me Tender" more from miscellaneous playlists.
Some say LITUSA is Linda's celebration of Americana, how do you American fans feel about that?

BITUSA sang with Chuck Berry (LRBS), is the greatest, "Mohammed's Radio" at her The Summit concert, is top, and the others I listen to, especially "Love Me Tender" more from miscellaneous playlists. Some say LITUSA is Linda's celebration of Americana, how do you American fans feel about that? On that point, below is what Linda said in Rolling Stone (October 19, 1978). Further on the "America" theme, I always thought it was interesting that the recording of Living in the USA was completed on July 3, 1978, like they wanted to be done for Fourth of July. Linda said (same interview): "There's been so much press, you know. I went to some beach club on the Fourth of July and I couldn't believe it. I mean we just got jumped on-literally jumped on!" Q: “Back in the U.S.A.” is an oldie also. A: Yeah, that came about because I was driving around in the car with Glenn Frey. Glenn Frey is the best single source of material for singers. He’s got stacks and stacks of cassettes he’s made of all these different things. We were driving and I looked at him and went, 'Remember when we used to sit around the Troubadour bar and go, ‘Oh it’s so horrible and I can’t get a record deal.' We were so broke and so miserable and we’d feel sorry for ourselves and we were so precious about it. Then, all of a sudden I looked at him and I went, 'Boy, life’s really tough. We’re going off to ski with all this money in our pockets, we’re going to have a good time and we’ve got great music on the tape player.' 'Back in the U.S.A.' came on right then and I just went, 'God, that would be a great song to sing. I think I’ll do that one.' To me there’s a real resurgence of patriotism in this country. We all went through trying to criticize it in the Sixties, but then everybody went, 'Well, we’re going to go looking around the rest of the world. It must be better over here and it must be better over there.' But everybody’s coming here, so I guess it must be best here. I like that line about 'Anything you want we got it right here in the U.S.A.' or 'Looking hard for a drive-in, searching for a corner cafe where hamburgers sizzle on the open grill night and day and the jukebox jumping with records back in the U.S.A.!' I mean Chuck Berry really knew how to write folk poetry!

The popularity of roller skating in the 1970's definitely pays homage to Americana. The photos of Linda in her roller skating gear is one of the best things about the album. I would say that "Alison" and "Blowin' Away" are probably my favorite songs, but the album stands the test of time overall. It also brings back a lot of memories of my own roller skating days...

Alison is wonderful … I also love WIGTOTD but think the version on The Muppet Show is superior

Well, during this time, there was nobody from outside the country music world that had had such a profound effect on country music. Her crossover popularity and her integrity were so high that even staunch country music fans could accept her without foaming at the mouth like rabid redneck dogs, or doing what Charlie Rich did at the 1975 CMA Awards, namely lighting the envelope that had John Denver's name as that year's Entertainer of the Year on fire. The fact that the presence of occasional splashings of pedal steel guitar is the only actual trace of C&W on Living In The USA doesn't take away from the fact that country fans still found her honesty appealing. How strange Charlie Rich would do that. I looked up the video and the entire thing is just gross and weird.. the slip of paper he lit on fire was so flimsy and it was stupid. I wonder if it was more an attack on John Denver the person as opposed to his talent? Maybe they had a falling out? Because come on, John Denver like Linda was a cross over artist, even more so (as far as country) in my opinion. Linda sang more styles whereas Denver stayed in the same folk-country lane. Unless it was a goof and they were friends.. Still so unprofessional of Rich. And who the hell dressed him? that outfit.. oy..
