This came over my newsfeed right now. Thought I'd share. Beautiful voice. She can growl like Linda near the end.

Now if you could get her to falsetto the way Linda does so well.

That girl was pretty good, I thought. There are a lot of talented singers on the Voice this season....
How's this girl?
And listen to this guy do Stevie Wonder after his main song (was a set-up I think, but really impressive)

yes. they had quite a few on last nights show I really liked
This girl's voice kind of reminds me of one of Erik's favorite. Caitlin Rose.. they have a similar tone.

Sorry but I can't agree with that one. She's got talent, but sings with a certain affectation that seems to be somewhat common lately. It sounds like some unrecognized accent, or a speech impediment and it ruins it for me. Dave

I don't quite know about the comparisons to Caitlin, but Madi does sound like she comes from either England or Australia, which I think accounts for the accent or affectation, whatever one wants to call it.
As for song choice--well, choosing "It's Too Late" is a pretty daring move on Madi's part, given two seemingly contradictory things: one, that it's a Carole King classic that, two, this current generation of listeners, if they've heard of either it or Carole at all, probably learned about from either their parents or (GULP!) their grandparents.

Listening to Madi's speaking voice she sounds american.. and yes her tone is very similar to caitlin's.. listen to each of them back to back. you'll hear it. that's the first thing I noticed. I didn't say Madi was my favorite or I liked her.. the similarity caught my attention. she also sounds a little like Dido..

Erik... I think the trend now is to pick those old songs. The girl I just posted is singing an Ella Fitzgerald/Louis Armstrong . and later Mama Cass song.. It's too late baby is probably more familar to the younger crowd than we may think

Very true. I think it's good that they're going back to "the old songs". At the same time, you have to once again wonder about the state of the music that is being (mass)-produced these days.
