Moe, that's par for the course regarding much of SNL humor. It's assumed that many female singers are divas, so Linda was a prime target at the height of her career. You're right that it doesn't fit her profile, but it doesn't really offend me. Linda seems to appreciate the value of a dollar, even though her mother's family was fairly well off, and she had a comfortable nest egg. I had given her little gifts here and there (very inexpensive) and she was thoughtfully concerned about fans spending their money on her.

Well, I just contributed to Linda's retirement fund. I just bought the Neil Young's greatest hits CD at lunchtime. Target had it on sale for $10.00. Let's see, Linda will probably get 8 cents royalty for the 2 songs she is singing backup on. lol Whatever it takes to increase her income I don't know if Linda or James Taylor were given royalties for contributing guest backing vocals to Neil's songs. Although they were artists themselves and probably could've asked for a royalty, there's a chance they were just paid union scale for the time (1970-71), which wouldn't have been much. And they may have done it just for scale. If they were offered a royalty, it probably wouldn't have been very much either for the time. And unless any royalties were renegotiated, whatever they were offered and accepted when the album was made would still be in effect, even on CD. My guess is it would've been three of four cents but not much more than that.

Maybe I'll have to burn a " Neil's Greatest Hits" with these songs for the car - "Hold Back the Tears" is super. I read somewhere that Neil referred to Linda and Nicolette as "The Saddle Bags" (not a nice appelation).
