Not too shabby and Julie Andrews seemed very proud.

Given this, and her performance with Tony Bennett, it may very well be the time to take her seriously now. Maybe she has finally gotten the message that being bizarre and wearing meat dresses has its limits.

Where would music be without it's eccentrics? But yeah, I agree. She seems to be more than just a kiddie idol. Not that I've ever really checked out her stuff, but this and the Bennett thing at the grammys was quite good.

At some point, though, the bizarre was going to wear its welcome out, no matter how great the music might have been. Gaga just may have realized it for herself, which is why her last projects have been so highly acclaimed. Madonna, on the other hand, whom Gaga is so often compared to, is just being bizarre for the sake of being bizarre, given that her music is not anywhere as attention-grabbing as it once was (IMHO).

Madonna's 'problem' is that her entire thing was based on how hot she was. She never was in my eyes, but many obviously disagree. But anyway, if you're all about sex you have nowhere to go later on in life but to try to hold on to that for as long as you can. It's not as though Madonna can be 'cutting edge' because she never was, not even in her prime. And she can't sing her way out of trouble either because she was never much of a vocalist. Her only option is trying to remain 20 for as long as the public will buy it. That's not to say that she's never done anything of value, but it was never about the vocal with her. Lady GaGa seems to have more options.

And Lady GaGa has some serious pipes and is classically trained.. she knows her stuff. Madonna could have aged gracefully or a more sophisticated..I'm so tired of people trying to prove they still got it.. who really cares?

Lady G. Has a great voice and she's showing her versatility. Props to her chops for branching out into different genres of music.

I thought this was a fantastic performance by her .... she really can sing and without all OTT behaviour (which I loved but have grown a little tired of now) she has shown herself to be a great artist.

Now that she is engaged to a hunk and in love and ready to settle down we may see great things from GaGa. Those tats need to go however.

I agree. I thought this was a great performance. Although I was impressed with Lady Gaga performing the jazz material with Tony Bennett, I was not quite prepared for how well she pulled off the medley from "The Sound of Music." She attended CAP in New York City CAP website so she has the training. She has said in interviews that she always wanted to do more of this type of singing/performing but no one would hire her so she went the route that she did.

I was beyond surprised by Lady G's performance. Frankly, I didn't think she had it in her. I hope this is a step in the right direction for her. I have listened to the CD's of her and Tony Bennett and enjoyed it. Enough of the crazies. Move on with showing true talent.

I was impressed how GaGa sang with a completely different voice. Reminds me of someone else who can do that...
I thought it was a fantastic performance that unfortunately came too late in a long show.

I mentioned before that I was blown away by Lady GaGa's rendition of "Lush Life." It's available on YouTube. I don't know how to download to this site, but you can check it out.

I've watched it three times now and it gets better with each listen. It's better than "quite good" as I said previously. It's VERY good. I can't believe that it's Lady GaGa, but it's really her. What a surprise! Maybe next year Britney will blow our mind by singing Verdi so well that it rivals Callas and Tebaldi. Impossible, but than up until a few days ago I considered this GaGa performance also impossible. All kidding aside - congrats Lady GaGa, you are the real thing. Please use that god given talent you have in the right way. There's no need anymore to hide behind gimmicks. Nothing wrong with being a bit eccentric, but don't let it take attention away from your talent.

I happened to walk in the room and looked at the TV. I couldn't believe it was her.

I'm just not a fan of the many different bizarre looks. As for Britney Spears, I've never heard a song by her that I would want to hear a second time. Still, Britney has moved more albums than even Linda Ronstadt. Such is life.

Among the current "queen of pop" contenders I like some of Beyonce's stuff and I think she's a charismatic performer, but that's it. The others don't do it for me. But I have to reconsider my opinion on Lady GaGa - she's good. As for Britney, well, "Baby one more time" was a catchy record and she's a cute girl. Other than that I don't like her (her music I mean), but speaking from a human perspective I'm glad that she has conquered her demons and seems to be doing well now. I can't stand all that playback crap though. I would respect her more for singing live and being awful than for just moving her lips to a tape with the excuse that it's too hard to sing since she needs to dance. She's not that incredible a dancer anyway - not in the league of a Michael or even Janet Jackson.

Thanks for downloading the YouTube version of Lush Life (I'm technologically impaired). I think GaGa also stole Linda's wig from the Cher show!

I think I have seen one other picture of her, a black-and-white glossy, where she looks a lot like Faye Dunaway portraying Joan Crawford in MOMMIE DEAREST. All that was missing was the "No wire hangers, ever!" bit.
But in all good honesty, L.G. may be worth taking seriously...so long as she doesn't go back to the butcher (LOL).

She should do a Rodgers & Hammerstein songbook album next. If she would do well on it - and going on this evidence she would, it could be both an artistic AND commercial hit for her. After that she could return to 'regular contemporary pop' but do it somewhat differently than before. Hopefully all the praise she gets over this performance will make her aware of the fact that she doesn't need to out-crazy the competition. She can easily outsing most of them.

She would do well there too. I understand she is signed for next season American Horror Story on FX Not sure how big the part is. I used to think she tried at being weird or different for attention. and part of it most likey is but some people are unique and eccentric.. like think like Michael Jackson, it's who they are . I think that will always come across with GaGa, after all, she still has her "Monsters," who like and follow her for who she is. I could do without all the weird wigs, they're not even fashion forward just weird.. After seeing her Sound Of Music Performance, she's another one who could have played Maria in the live t.v musical during the holidays.

I didn't know that Gorme recorded songs in Spanish. Too bad Linda and Lady G. couldn't collaborate on Lush Life. Hey, maybe Lady Gaga can sing a duet with Kelly Clarkson--LOL!!
