Linda Ronstadt has been inducted into America`s Pop Music Hall of Fame, along with Paul McCartney, Glenn Campbell and 14 other pop artists. Linda actually led the group with the most votes! Further information at www.americaspopmusichalofame.org Congrats to Linda!!!

My understanding is that the final 10 artists out of the 25 nominees will be announced on 12/28. Hopefully, Linda will be in that group (not that she really cares)

Most of Linda's hits came after the qualification dates so I wonder if that would affect the voting. Speaking of which it says the voting is online but is that for everyone or just other pop stars to vote? I think this is a better "home" for her than the RRHOF.
Since she is nominated with the Four Tops here is their mostly not-famous sextette:

Thanks, Goldie. I like the upbeat Motown arrangement on this version!

Linda probably appreciates these honors more than we realize; it's just that she doesn't talk about it, or get all narcissistic and cocky and full of herself.
But yes, it is a nice honor to have in a year that has seen a lot of love come her way, even if it came about under the shadow of Parkinson's.
Now how about Nashville showing a little Suth'n hospitality (as in Country Music Hall of Fame), and getting away from that Florida-Georgia Line bro-country s**t for a sec?!

the Eagles are nominated also. they were with Linda in 1972 so not sure they would qualify at all. at least linda had different drum and long long time on the charts by 1972. thanks for post, travis, but your link does not work as you left out one "l" in hall. I went to the site. where does it say that she is the number one internet vote getter? I could not see any results. eddiejinnj

Quote by eddieinnj:
Actually, the Eagles' first three Top 40 hits were off of their self-titled 1972 album ("Take It Easy"; "Witchy Woman"; and "Peaceful Easy Feeling"), so they do indeed qualify. It would correct the oversight that the Rock Hall made in '98 by not inducting both them and Linda at once.

The problem with the RRHOF is the nominating committee. Linda couldn't get past the politics of that committee. Had she been nominated she would have won induction at that time.

Well, in my opinion, Linda's induction did not happen when it naturally should have occurred-- before Bonnie Raitt (not a knock at Bonnie, she is, after all, my #2 favorite female singer)-- and before or concurrently with the Eagles.
My opinion could change but I don't see myself ever wanting to visit this shrine.

I had thought when I went to the site that it said up until 1972 but since it does include 1972 it indeed would include the eagles. that must have been a whirlwind time for the "boys" and Linda, being her backup band, doing gigs and forming their group and recording within a 6 mos to year period. so is the final mission/criteria of this hall or is it that the just happened to pick artists from 1945 through 1972 this year? I read their mission and it is unclear and did not see a section for criteria/rules. It does seem that imo the universe was rightnened when she got in the hall. they went against the natural order of things lol!!!! eddiejinnj

I have to look on the site but is there a ceremony for this hall and what do we think the chances Linda would attend? I don't recall any talk about her attending the Great American Songbook Hall of Fame ceremony. eddiejinnj
