It wouldn't be considered "bro country" because it is a very well-known American spiritual dating from 1912 that a lot of C&W artists, including Johnny and June Carter Cash, Merle Haggard, and Loretta Lynn, have done.
Unfortunately, a song like that could never get played on country radio these days. But I'll give the man his due for thinking outside "The Box".

But I'll give the man his due for thinking outside "The Box". well he made it to #2 on itunes. he was between Taylor Swift's Blank Space #1 and Uptown Funk #3. Not too shabby. I agree with what you said about country music these days, which is why I don't listen.

Somewhat off subject but this is another old song made new with a wonderful arrangement. Not sure it is lyrically correct as the original but it goes to show you how you can make an old song new. Linda made a career of doing just that.

I think this guy is choosing good songs on the show. Hopefully, this represents who he is and what he will bring forth to C&W radio in the future. He has been pretty steady (thus far) in choosing good material
