From "Shady XV"
I slap Linda Ronstadt with a lobster, throw her off a balcony Just so happens she's fond of algae Cause now she's face plants on the concrete Complete lack of responsibility

I appreciate Mr. Mathers' candor.

That was weird-and disrespectful-what is an eminen? I gather from Eric's comment it is some guy named Mathers-surely not the beaver!

Is that supposed to make some sort of sense, or am I asking too much?

A decade ago Linda was quoted: "My little boy likes Eminem, and there's a compelling musicianship and pathos there" BTW he's offered to introduce Mr. Mathers to his mom

Well that's five minutes of my life I'll never get back. However I have discovered that my dislike of rap is not racists.

I realize that part of what I said last night was erased, and I don't hold a grudge against whoever it was that erased.
I just knew of this lyric a couple of weeks ago and decided not to post about it, because Eminem (real name: Marshall Mathers) is so disgustingly misogynistic an "artist" (and I put that term in quotation marks for a reason). That he is lionized so much by the critics and the fans for being "edgy", or whatever, says just how far down American culture has sunk (IMHO). To do this to Linda, or to any woman in particular (even towards Rihanna, someone I don't think I could ever like), is pretty filthy; and being a White boy doesn't make him right.

I sincerely apologize if this posting has offended anyone. I was just surfing and thought it was of interest. I know nothing about Eminem, his music or his reputation. After listening to the track which was posted, I am very surprised at the sound of his voice. I have never heard it before. It sounds like someone who just inhaled a tank of helium and started rapping. I had no idea whether this particular lyric was intended to be positive or negative toward Linda. Apparently, I am an ignoramus when it comes to rap.

He is an act the way most radio politicos are acts. When desperate for money or attention/ratings they say and do things for attention. Sad thing is they use their "act" as an excuse for spreading their lies, prejudices and misrepresentations of the truth to fans who take things at face value and end up on the losing side if they practice what he/they is preaching. There is a fine line between free speech and hate speech and which is which is mostly confusing to the less than intelligent masses. I am not so sure I agree with Linda about this one. She and Carlos may have changed their minds after this one.

LOL.. what the hell prompted him to write that? It's so random and doesn't even make sense.

I think Linda did admit some years ago to admiring Eminem's inventiveness with the rap form, and that her son was an avid fan. After this, though, that feeling may have changed,

Does anyone know what this lyric means? As I said, I did not know if it was intended to be positive, negative or neither.

I do not see how being slapped with a lobster or being thrown off a balcony could be positive.

Well, the balcony is a problem. The lobster too...unless it was drawn with butter (LOL).
But even so....

Did you read the lyrics? I think you need to think outside the box on this one.

I don't know if LR is fond of algae, but "M&M" is definitely pond scum.

I like M&Ms, not really fond of Enimem .... Having to read the urbandictionary.com definition of his lyrics to understand his song is disheartening and validates the death of the songwriting as we know it...... The Gershwins, Irving Berlin, Billy Strayhorn etc are rolling in their graves. What nonsense.
