He may have been only a journeyman director, but Andrew V. McLaglen was a prominent director of largely traditional westerns during the 1960s and 1970s. He passed away at his home in Washington State over this previous weekend: movies.yahoo.com/news/director-andrew-v-mclaglen-dies-94-130105776.htmlAmong other films mentioned (namely the ones he did with John Wayne), McLaglen also directed the 1967 comedy western THE BALLAD OF JOSIE, with none other than Doris Day in the title role; and the violent, Peckinpah/Leone-influenced 1976 revenge Western THE LAST HARD MEN, with Charlton Heston (which was filmed in Linda's backyard, near Tucson)
