What a tremendous find these videos are! I'm glad they were posted, but I just hope they don't get removed from YouTube.
At the same time, of course, I think it really reminds us once again of Linda's innate ability, and just how far short some of today's performers (at least the ones we're forced to read about and listen to, anyway) fall in comparison to her.

Watching the "When Will I Be Loved" clip it really struck me that Andrew and Kenny are no longer with us. God, does time pass quickly or what? ?

Wow! This was a find for sure! I just downloaded the clips from YouTube. What more can we say about Linda? That voice! And what is so amazing is that her cute, giggly, Minnie-mouse speaking voice is such a contrast to the power and emotion that comes out when she sings. Linda is absolutely adorable. I wish I could've been old enough to have attended this concert.

WOW! Some very cool, riskier stuff on Love Has No Pride. I love when Linda goes off script (so to speak). Reminds me of her performance of You're No Good at San Diego's Balboa stadium when she added a verse which was not present on the recorded version. She should have done that more IMHO.

Quote by FEDUPSTADT:
I think in the case of "Love Has No Pride", the very passionate, heart-wrenching nature of the song does allow her to go off script, but without going over the top in her interpretation (as some others I could mention, but won't [hint, hint]). And of course her method of going off script is in keeping with the song being a classic example of her brand of country-rock, so it's really what one would actually expect of her (IMHO).

These are great. Loved the videos, and enjoyed listening to her patter. Her interesting comment (prior to FL) on her religiosity brings to mind a recent debate on that topic we had in the forum.

Linda Ronshutaddo! Love that.
This is Linda smack-dab in the middle of her glorious country-rock period and it's impossible to beat that.
What I find so compelling and fascinating about this music is that no matter if she's singing a pop song, a straight up country or rock classic, you don't think of them as genre songs, but, rather, as excellent songs with the common denominator of Linda's fabulous voice.
It's as if there are all of these disparate musical threads that, through some alchemy of Linda's talent, become woven into a cohesive vocal tapestry. There's artistry in that.

These are so great. Her voice is so special. Linda had become a star - soon to be a superstar- but these have a rawness that I love. Next stop was the mega arenas. The rare live footage seems to be surfacing more and more so who knows one day soon we can hope for a high quality release where they spell Ronstadt correctly. Does anyone know if the Offenbach, Germany show on youtube (1976?) was released on DVD? That show seems to be killer with Linda in top 70s form.

Does anyone know if the Offenbach, Germany show on youtube (1976?) was released on DVD? That show seems to be killer with Linda in top 70s form. If you buy Goldmine, they have one dealer who advertised quite often when I suscribed to the magazine, who sold boot dvds of concerts, including some by Linda. I believe that dealer had a dvd for the concert in Germany and also one from Atlanta, GA. However, it's been some time since I suscribed or bought Goldmine so I don't know if his ads are still in there, but they were always towards the middle of the magazine. I thought the concert videos from Germany and Atlanta were of an excellent quality and wondered if that footage was shot for a CBS tv special on Linda in 1977-78? That tv special never aired and was never sure of the reason why it was cancelled. CBS had issued a press release announcing the special with what turned out to be Elvis's last tv special. I never found any mention afterwards of whether it was indeed filmed or if they never got that far but if it's not the concerts from Germany or Atlanta and it was filmed, sure would make for an interesting find. The only reason I suspect the Germany and Atlanta concerts as possibly being filmed for the special is that they were from the time the tv special was announced. Of course, maybe CBS wanted Linda to star in a variety type tv show and that didn't appeal to her?

Ioffer.com has an abundence of Linda Ronstadt material. So far I have purchased the 1980 Mad Love concert that was shown on HBO and a concert recorded in Germany I believe in 1976. Considering how long ago these concerts were recorded I found them to be in very good condition. I was very pleased with both DVD's and play them all the time. They are well worth buying and the prices are not bad at all. I also bought both concerts for my daughter and she loves them as well.

Okay - I've downloaded the MP4 files - but I can't put them on a DVD with Windows 7 DVD Maker. I tried a program to convert them to AVI files first, but that only creates a DVD with titles/pictures of each filename/file, none of which can be played. What am I doing wrong?
P.S. Based on Witchy Woman cover, we are missing a Youtube link to #8-When will I be loved.

. What was with "The Witchy Woman," in New Jersey advertisement? Witchy Woman? really? Anyway, boy even back then she sounds the same or even better live (going up a few notes in Colorado.) If I I were to critique the performance.. not because it bothers me but in todays world, people would nit pick that she sang with her eyes closed..

Yes, they'd nitpick--but then they probably wouldn't be fans to begin with anyway, of course. I've always felt she does that because, for one, she is a shy person; and for another, it's her way of getting into the emotion of the song.

I meant if Linda or if a new artist performed on stage with their eyes closed the way she did on this video nowadays people would criticize her. Even on these talent shows, when the singer is a little awkward, the judges ride them, it's all part of the performance experience, to connect with the audience and to engage one self. Not every singer should make a dramatic entrance riding a trojan horse. I'm a fan of hers so I don't care.. and anyway, later on with experience, she learned how to manage her stage fright and her composure was self assured/confident.. her Canciones show is a testament to that..

I am more impressed that her eyes were closed.. shows her mastery of her craft.. You know that old expression; 'I can do that with my eyes clsoed!'
