What early tv appearance is this you tube clip from? She sings "When Will I Be Loved". Blue jeans and white shirt, band on country front porch, blue sky background.

Both photos posted on this thread are from the Hoyt Axton Special. Many years ago before youtube I had written the head of the Axton Fan Club about a video of this special and he didn't even know about the special. I don't think it has been released, not yet anyway.

The pic at bottom is definitly from the smothers brothers show I watched it at the time, I taped the audio on a cassette tape. The background is the smothers stage back set piece. The only you tube video of the smothers from this 1975 series is a song something like "going into big time crime" with the set pice on the stage. I have some old Linda VHS tapes I got from a collector 15 years ago, it may have this axton show on it but haven't seen them cause I boxed them all up when I started to get DVD replacements. I even Have the "Rally For Nuclear Disarmament June 12, 1982 concert", but I'd have to check if "hoyt Axton" is on them.

thanks for Smothers info. Here's what I've been able to find out about the "Hoyt" special:
The Hoyt Axton Country Western, Boogie Woogie, Gospel, Rock and Roll Show
Hoyt Axton Country Western Boogie Woogie Gospel Rock and Roll Hour." Comedy is interspersed with music in a show featuring Hoyt Axton as the host and performers Linda Ronstadt, Rita Coolidge, Arlo Guthrie, Tanya Tucker, Buffy Sainte-Marie and La Costa. Also: cameo appearances by Kris Kristofferson and Paul Williams. Musical highlights include "Thank You Lord" "Speed Trap" "Lion in Winter" (Hoyt); "When Will I Be Loved?" (Linda); "Star" (Rita); "Won't Be Long" (Arlo); "Best of My Love" (Tanya); "He Took Me for a Ride" (La Costa). (60 min.)
This US TV special was hosted by American singer-songwriter Hoyt Wayne Axton, it was packed with great artists like Rita Coolidge, Doug Dilliard, Arlo Guthrie, Loggins & Messina, Harry Nilsson, Charlie Rich, Linda Ronstadt, Buffy St. Marie, Ringo Starr, LaCosta and Tonya Tucker. At the very end all guests and other celebrities [for example Micky Dolenz, Keith Moon, Paul Williams, Kris Kristofferson] gathered on stage to sing Ringo’s current hit No, No, Song. The 2 minute segment shows Hoyt doing the introduction of the “cast party†and “thanking the lord for the pennies†[the No, No, Song was written by Hoyt Axton]. Ringo sporting a full beard, blue jeans, blue jacket and red shirt starts singing the song together with Hoyt; at the beginning they do a few dance steps. The camera captures some of other guests as they join the performance.
The show was aired by NBC in March 1975.

You're correct. They were both filmed and televised around the same time and I forgot Hoyt and Linda were on the Smothers show at the same time. My guess is they were singing Lion In The Winter although I cannot find record of their performing together for that show.

Seems Ms. Ronstadt was on every show in the 70's! And I missed every appearance of her too...

Seems Ms. Ronstadt was on every show in the 70's! And I missed every appearance of her too... You're not alone there buddy. I feel the same way.....even though I realize that I was either not born yet or too little to remember it anyway......when she made all of those television appearances in the late '60s and throughout the '70s. I think I might remember her on the Muppet Show in 1980, when she sang "Blue Bayou" with the frogs. Do you remember that one? I watched that show all the time as a kid. Linda was so cute.....and that voice! Amazing! And she sang live in every skit, no lip-synching. What female singers today could pull that off? Nobody! Yes, that Muppet episode is great! Ms. Ronstadt is so charming, so beautiful there, you can understand why Ms. Piggy was jealous! Oh, how envious I was of Kermit, but oh how I felt for him too! Lol! Actually, I did not see this episode when it first aired but did eventually see all of it on youtube. That closing segment of her and all the Muppets singing on When I Grow Too Old To Dream is, I think, my favourite moment of the show. But the croaking frogs on Bayou was funny too. Just a great, great episode all around!

The Muppets episode with Linda is certainly a "keeper." Interesting that the hairdo and outfit she wore for BB was very similar to what she wore on SNL when she and Phoebe Snow did the Shoop shoop song.
