Wow, thanks for all the photos. There are a few that I haven't seen before. The glasses pic is the only suspect one but it does seem to be her features but just the way the camera caught her it looks suspect but Ron G. did take many pics of her but probably other celebrities too. I think it probably is her. Eddie V.'s ex is Valerie Bertinelli. eddiejinfl

John Boylan would be the best one to ask. He seems to know just about everything Linda....even before they met. #1 FAN & FRIEND.

The photo of Linda, Emmylou and Dolly would have been a nice cover for Trio III. Linda looks absolutely gorgeous in that picture! The gals also look great in the one they selected. It's fun to be reminded of the way they looked back then (minus the perms).

Thanks so much for posting Ronstadt Fan! Don't know where you got those last four, but they definitely left me scratching my head! And the guy in the picture kind of looks like Springstein, but I'm probably wrong?

I've always loved the photo on the left. Most gorgeous. The photo on the right, is that Linda holding a cigarette? I couldn't tell if it was a drinking straw or pen, a piece of candy or a cigarette. I enlarged the page so the photo would be larger. Still can't tell. I know Linda smoked pot and inhaled but I was never sure if she ever smoked cigarettes. If that's a joint, it's one of the longest one I've ever seen.

This one is gorgeous and the ones from the Big Sur Folk Festival are stunning beyond words. What a beauty she was then, and still is. I wish I had your luck in finding these photos.

Quote by sliderocker re. pencil-or-cigarette pic of Linda:
I believe Linda never touched tobacco, but there's no question she did smoke pot. But I think that's a pencil/pen of some kind she's pushing her sunglasses up with.
Re. 1976 Amsterdam pic:
Well I try to look for pics of Linda that haven't been posted and, perhaps, have rarely been seen by anyone, least of all me. After all, this is one of the most photographed singers, female or otherwise, in American pop music, and, even if she won't admit it, she's photogenic without being a ham.

Re. 1976 Amsterdam pic: Well I try to look for pics of Linda that haven't been posted and, perhaps, have rarely been seen by anyone, least of all me. After all, this is one of the most photographed singers, female or otherwise, in American pop music, and, even if she won't admit it, she's photogenic without being a ham. I thought the object in Linda's hand was a Bic ink pen, doesn't look like a pencil but it also looks like it's not touching her sunglasses either. Looks like the object is straight up in the air. I don't know if Linda ever smoked cigarettes when she was younger. A possibility that she did, maybe, because a lot of rock artists in those days smoked because they thought it was a cool thing to do. But, I recall Linda saying she had a problem with smoking pot and doing drugs in general, and I rather imagine if pot gave her a hard time, cigarettes would've given her just as hard of a time. I could see her maybe smoking because she wanted to have a smokey voice when she sang. Olivia Newton-John admitted in concert she smoked as a teen in Australia for the very same reason but gave it up after deciding she didn't want a smokey voice. Some of the Linda photos I have seen over the years but they were not widely circulated. The Capitol publicity photo of Linda with Merle Haggard and George "Goober" Lindsay among others in the same photo being one example. (If anyone ever wondered what George Lindsay was doing in the photograph, Lindsay was actually signed to Capitol as a country singer and songwriter. Capitol released two or three albums on him.) There was a cheesecake b&w publicity photo of Linda that appeared in the Country Music magazine in the early 1970s, circa 1971-72, that I haven't seen since. In the photo, Linda appeared to be wearing a white dress, sitting with her hands clasped around one of her knees. It was a very good photo but one I haven't seen since. White clothing looked good on her, she looked very angelic. I kind of wish when she does her promotional appearances for her book, she'd wear something other than the black clothing she's worn as of late. She's going to look good in any color of clothing she wears, and certain colors can affect the mood we're in and the way we feel.

There is no evidence to suggest that Linda has ever smoked cigarettes. In fact on the Dick Cavett show in the early 1970's she commented on Virginia Slims being nothing more than a phallic symbol as their motto was "VS is LONGER than the mans." Linda's mom was a chain smoker so like me she may have avoided it because of our parents habits. Plus, as a very grounded singer she knew how bad smoking was for her voice and breathing.

My mom was a chain smoker as well, so what you say sounds very reasonable to me because I never wanted to smoke either because of my mom's smoking habit. Still, I knew other kids whose parents also smoked and they acquired the habit themselves. But, as beautifully clear as Linda's singing voice was, I couldn't imagine her taking up smoking, although if she did, her experience may have been like that of Olivia Newton John's experience: short lived and not enough that anyone would ever know or could tell. She would've been dealing with a lot of second hand smoke being around other singers and musicians and others who did. (I think of that photo of Linda in a limo trapped with Jack Nicholson and the Watergate reporter, a demonic looking Nicholson with a cigarette in his mouth and Linda looking like she's trapped and in need of rescuing.) But, no one knowing Linda personally can ever say they're 100% sure. Only someone who had been around her quite a bit might be able to say otherwise.

Linda has also commented on how smoking has changed the sound of Joni Mitchell's voice and other singers. I cannot recall what interview that was in but it was about the negative side of smoking.
